What's ginger anyways?

Ginger ale is a good beverage. I say.

 

Ginger is a root that is used mainly in cooking.

I find ginger ale settles my stomach but the odd thing is that the ginger ale that I buy does not contain any ginger. Very strange.

 

I like ginger beer better. Much spicier and more ginger-y. Though I fancy that perhaps the ginger beers I find are more traditional, and that a properly traditional ginger ale would probably taste different from the version that has been popularized as canned soda today.

It's hard to describe the difference, but the flavor has a different quality as compared to ginger ale. And, as I say, usually spicier. Not always easy to find, alas. I seem to have the best luck at sandwich shops.

It used to have cocaine, but that was removed a long time ago.

I had a few ginger beers when I was a kid. I wasn't too fond of it. I'm trying to remember the taste in order to describe it. I'm not succeeding.

EDIT: definitely more aftertaste, IIRC.

If you mix it with rum, then it becomes "ginger".

 

A "beer," like root beer. But a real beer that was ginger would probably be pretty good. I wonder if there is such a thing.

 

Ginger beer is brewed, though non alcoholic. Ginger Ale is just soda.

Ginger Ale yummy. Even the sliced ginger that is given at a local sushi bar is nice.

One of my favorite spices.

 

I am okay with Ginger Ale, but Ginger Beer is too much. They drink it in Australia. It is actually a ginger-flavored soda drink. Very strong, usually. And yes, like a ginger version of Root Beer.

 

I've had alcoholic ginger beer, it's much win. Ginger Beer isn't so much strong as it's heavily gingered, i.e. it has tang and bite to it. Lubs it!
