Did Lucas name this crucial planet "Kamino" because of the Spanish word "camino", which means "way" or "path"?

    If so, well done.

    Works on many levels.

That would be clever of him if he did although I haven't heard him say anything about why he named it Kamino.

I love the name Kamino. Whether it does have a double meaning in GL's world, I love the name and the planet.

I remember seeing another thread about this a long time ago...

Not also Kamino (Camino) means Road in spanish (the language we speak here in Chile) but also as pointed in that old thread, it could be a japanese word-play reffering to Kami No (related to the gods), marking Kamino as some sort of sacred place. (Planet of Gods, givers of life)

EDIT: Hey.. but then who knows.

Yeah, people have speculated that it's either a Japanese influenced name (even the Kaminoan names seem Japanese) or has to do with Lucas' love of cars (as in the "El Camino").

Actually, "Taun We" and "Llama Su" sound more Chinese, than Japanese. Maybe Korean or Vietnamese. But not Japanese.

It is just Sci-Fi kind of name, imaginary. It is not from the real world.

Yes, Lucas never uses vague symbolisms like the winds and rains howling outside the Kamino cloning facility at the improprieties being commited inside against nature. The Flanneled One would never use vague symbolism. Or is that a concrete symbol, I should know this stuff, I have an english degree!

What is the name of the city he is in on Kamino? Tipoca City, or something like that. I can't remember...

Tipoca sound like old Aztec name, but still, I say, it has probably nothing to do with the real world.
