Discuss KB. She is my favorite one in Skeleton Crew, though I like 3 out of 4 kids a lot.

Yeah... I understand they are going for the "neglected kid by his parent who seeks a way to escape", but I am still bothered by his lack of responsibility and his lack of empathy towards the other kids, who are visibly and obviously very distraught about being lost in the galaxy while their parents are worried about them.

Also it’s obvious his father loves him he’s just busy trying to do his job and make money. I think there are ways they could have done this better. Accidentally hitting the button would have gone a long way instead of hitting it on purpose. Or the fact that he doesn’t seem to care at all that they currently have zero way home. Anyway this isn’t that thread.

So far, KB doesn't seem to have as much personality as the others. Hopefully she'll get some character-expanding stuff soon.

Maybe I am biased but feel like Wim and s neurodivergent coded… he does not lack empathy he is focused on the “adventure” and does not see what is outside of his hyperfocus… the journey will teach him and he will understand how to manage his skills… that’s what’s coming of age journeys are for right? And I am sure we will find out this adventure HAD to be initiated because there is something wrong to fix with the peaceful planet… but yes I am on the wrong thread so…
… KB is the one who stands out less but is really itnteresting and I like her a lot!

I would say KB is the most nostalgic character. She reminds me of going to KayBee Toys and getting to pick out Return of the Jedi and leftover Empire Strikes Back figures. Some of the RoTJ figs were the later series that came with collectors' coins. I never saw those at Gemco before. Thanks for the memories, KB.

She’s my favorite so far. Very smart (probably a child genius), but also very nice. A rare character in Hollywood.

Shes my favorite so far as well. Can't put my finger on exactly why but bor mullet probably summed it up perfectly.

She has that loot thing going on. My question is who would do that to a child

First comp that came to my head was Marcie from The Peanuts (w/Fern as Peppermint Pattie).

He’s an adventurous, curious and naive kid, and is also probably hiding the fact that he’s scared too. Putting a brave face on to save face (I’m sure he didn’t think the button would launch a spaceship, in any event…). I’m sure he cares about the other kids and their concerns, but this is also the most thrilling thing to ever happen to him, and he wants the others to embrace that, but they’re too responsible to go wild with it.

He’s had it with his boring suburb. It’s about the most relatable thing ever for anyone raised in a suburb (I was, hated it, got out as soon as I could, and never looked back - except for holidays and such to see family). The one I can’t relate to is Neel, who just wants to get home and loves it! But he’s insanely adorable, sweet and funny and MUST be protected AT ALL COSTS.

I hear all of that but (A) hating on suburbia is not a personality :p (though some people define their whole personality on that, which is sad -NOT talking about you here, I am thinking of IRL), and (B) realistically, if your life is in danger and you are a kid, completely lost, not knowing what to do, not having the warmth and security of your home, then you are terrified to a degree that you cannot simply hide, and you are not so aloof that you would rather play with scary things that you found in a spaceship.

So to clarify, nothing about Wim bothered me before they got lost in space, but everything about Wim bothered me AFTER they got lost in space.

On topic, I agree with your comment about KB, and yes, we need more genius characters that are also compassionate. It sends the right message. And the fact that she is a female character makes it even better. And a cyborg, too. So, even even better.

Ah, OK. But apart from playing around in the pirate captain's room, Wim seemed pretty scared the rest of the time. At the pirate port I mean.

I also thought the funniest scene in the show was when Wim pressed the green button. He sees it flashing green and his eyes bug out. He's thinking "I shouldn't touch it but it's so green and flashy, I just have to!"

Trying to figure out if that stuff is attached to her or removable.

And any idea what KB stands for?

Maybe...but it would be nice to get that going in as opposed to 'here's a 10 year old who's parents put implants in her for reasons'.

It's a hyper-advanced galactic civilization. Does it really need to be explained why a kid has some cybernetics? Kids will probably be doing that here on Earth before the end of this century.

This is like asking "why are these kids allowed to use speeders?" :p
Or "why are 8th graders learning about advanced math that doesn't even exist?"
