Well... There is sounds here, in the fanfilms, for downloads. I use it, and I use the Jedi Academy game sounds too. But today, I was playing KOTOR and I noticed that the sounds of the sabers are the best I have heard.

I tried to pick them, but I dont know how to extract the files from KOTOR. I would like to know if someone has any idea to get that sounds.

I'm assuming you are talking about the PC version for KOTOR 1. Look around in the directories to see what format they are in. Most games run similar formats. The old GOBEX program ripped Dark Forces and many other FPS games.

They could be in .mp3 format for all I know.

I have discovered that the wav files are in a "RIFF wave format"... is it because of this I cant listen them in media player?

Mostly likely, search Google for a RIFF reading program or something.

i assume your media player is Windows Media Player, in which case, just get Winamp. itll play .wav files, as well as mp3s and video files like DivX and .mpeg files. RealPlayer may also playack .wav files as well, ive never tried it before though...

are these .wav or .wma? ill check my SW PC games when i get home tonight and see which kinda files are causing the problems. since ive got about four or five media players, i imagine ill get to the bottom of stuff. ive had limited success with a similar endeavor - pulling video files off of the PC games - not that its been a thing, just something to do to kill time really. that, and fool around with editing.

i do remember hearing something at the radio station i worked at a few months back about the industry introducing a new unrippable kind of file. you can download them, but not burn or transfer them to another device. this may just be the PC game equivalent or the idea behind it in the first place...

It's probably some really weird codec of .wav or something... sorta like how someone without DivX can't view the video of an .avi encoded with DivX (though I don't know, it's all speculation).

The Miles Sound Studio doesn't work for the sound effects, only the music. I think the sound effects are in a foramt that only KOTOR uses.
