As Hosnian Prime was before it's destruction the temporary capital of the New Republic, i think the following character's might have bitten the dust: Mon Mothma Crix Madine Wedge Antilles I think this might be a good issue for discussion. Are there other characters which you suspect to have died there, too?
While I think it's good to up the starkiller stakes by saying longtime Star Wars characters were on the 5 planets that blew up, the story group so far has not given us any indication that this was the case.
Jar Jar. But I thought the destruction of Hosnian Prime was one of the weakest aspects of the film, both in story and execution. I'm not at all a stickler for science, but everybody on Takodana being able to watch it unfold strained my credulity to the breaking point.
It's not unreasonable to theorize that Lando was there to negotiate a trade deal. But I'm betting he wasn't. He's too smooth to get caught out like that. Maybe if the First Order dropped a moon on him...
Even though Lego Star Wars stuff isn't canon it's somewhat semi-canon. So according to Lego Star Wars: the Resistance Rises, Lando was not near the Hosnian Prime system.
Who could have been killed: -Mon Mothma. -Wedge Antilles. -Lando. -Lady Carise Sindian. But I seriously doubt that any named character, besides Kor Sella that is, died there. I just don't see Rian dropping a "oh BTW, this character that you know from before, yeah they died when the Hosnian System blew up" type of line. If they had, then it would have been mentioned/referenced in TFA.
Boba Fett Darth Maul Lando Calrissian Princess/General Leia (the real one) C-3PO Luke Skywalker (the real one)
- Mon Mothma (though she may have returned to Chandrila after leaving the Senate due to her illness). - Wedge Antilles (I guess the character will have to be killed off at some point, as Denis Lawson turned down the offer to reprise the role). - Leia's friends from the Senate, like Varish Vicly. But I don't think any deaths will be mentioned in Ep. VIII, only in the new books.
For certain, all the Senate members listed on pages 66-67 of the Visual Dictionary, including Chancellor Villecham are dead.
Seeing as the First Order killed not only many Populists, but also many Centrists (who hold beliefs closer to the First Order), it will be interesting to see the dynamic of the Centrists and who sides with the First Order/who doesn't.
I really doubt they would have Mothma and Wedge be killed off screen. Sure they need to die sometime (Save for Wedge cause his awesomeness will live on eternally) but retconning that they went kaboom during one of the most hated moments of TFA will just turn fans on that scene and that whole action even more. I think it would actually be better if we have the two of them be on Echo of Hope and have supporting roles in the resistance. They don't need to show up in the films but why waste characters who can be great mentors in the novels and comics? I would love to see Wedge be a mentor for Finn. One non FS hero talking to another would be great, and Mothma can be there to help Leia out. It would be a waste of 2 great characters to do otherwise.
Goes home, spends more than half a century rethinking his life on Coruscant, and finally decides to make a change. He moves to Hosnian Prime, the capital of the New Republic, and is promptly blown up.
RIP Deathstick guy. Now he can go home to rethink his life or I guess think about how he has not life..........that got dark.
To put the endless debate of Darth Plagueis being Snoke to rest, Pablo Hildago confirmed today that he died during the destruction of Hosnian Prime. Now fans are discussing if whether was the real Plagueis that died or if it was a never before heard about clone
