I am currently going through Knights of the Old Republic, I just decided to replay Kotor 1 and 2 before starting my Tor account, hehe. I have played and completed the game many times. But something is amiss, usually when I work on Hk-47's memory core he usualy tells me 4 stories about some of his previous masters. This time, for some reason no matter how high my repair skill is, I couldn't get this dialogue. I am now already post Leviathan so the chance is now gone. However, does anyone know how high the repair skill has to be? What did I do wrong? Mine was level 7 and I still couldn't get it.
This video on youtube claims it was done with a repair skill of 17. I myself have never unlocked this talk from HK-47, he is a tricky droid to get anything out of in both games.
I see. It would be pretty hard for a soldier class to get his repair skill that high, there skill progression is very slow. That is probably why. As a soldier I put just about all my skill points into repair, (open mouth, insert foot) now I can't persuade anyone to do anything. You can get more information out of Hk-47 in TSL, but you have to do a few dastardly things in his presence, like the lambada. Okay I'm kidding, geez. But seriously you have to do one or two evil things to get some extra dialog, like this, for example. "Mochery: (Bastilla's voice) Oh master, I love you but I hate everything you stand, but I think we should go press our slimy muccous covered lips together in the cargo hold."
You need 17 points in repair. There's a bunch of items that'll let you boost your repair stats, but depending on when you pick up HK-47 as well as a particular light/dark side choice you may not get them. There's a bunch of topics here that can help, though I think the guy who made the really extensive calculations in the first thread made a mistake somewhere.
In TSL I think there maybe items that boost repair but as for Kotor 1, I doubt it. As for dark side/light side choice, I don't think that matters since this Kotor 1, not 2, hence no influence factor.
By the way, does anyone here have any knowledge of how to use KOTOR Tool to mod the game? I've been trying to do some rudimentary stuff, extracting .uti files for certain items and tweaking their stats (like item cost, repair bonus, etc) but for some reason the things I change just revert back to their original values even when I save the file. Am I doing something wrong?
