I loved Kotor's soundtrack. It was brilliant and fit perfectly with the game. Now I'd like to hear it outside the game.

I've tried to listen to the streammusic files, but all I get is noise. Anyone has an idea on how I could open those files ?

Or maybe if the soundtrack is available elsewhere ?

EDIT : Bah, found it. It's Miles Sound System available on www.radgametools.com.

So I downloaded the Miles program and I can listen to them... But is there any cleaner, higher-quality way to convert them to a burnable format thant he full-duplex sound card trick? I'd dearly love to be able to do a lossless conversion to wave....

Well, I used the miles program as well and decompressed the wav files. They then played as normal and was good quality. Then I used Acoustica MP3 mixer to turn them into mp3's, which brought the files around 3mb each. Yea KOTOR has a great soundtrack, I like it alot. Its also a great game aswell.

I just renamed the files as MP3s and played them in Winamp. Worked fine for me.

It's a pity that some of KotOR's best music occurs during cut-scenes, and there's no easy way to isolate it from the sound reel.

Small update: now that I finally saw the PC game and was extremely disappointed with it, I looked at the music files in the "streammusic" dir... These are simply MP3 (encoded with LAME! :)), so there is no need to decrypt them or convert to anything.

As for the themes contained in the BInK videos for the cutscenes, these are easily extractable with the RAD Tools, but of course any dialogue and sound effects will remain in the output sound. :)

I thought this music sounded a lot like a mix between Return of the King and Chamber of Secrets.

Well, Soule did compose the music for the Chamber of Secrets video game. But did you mean the movie?

Wow, just thought of a great musical moment in KotOR. During a cut-scene, of course. :( Not sure when this cut-scene takes place, but it's while you're on Taris. It starts with the camera looking down on the city, then it pans upward to reveal the Leviathan. The music is kind of peaceful, but then it descends into a minor key as the Leviathan appears. Subtle. I thought, this is perfect--how could this not have already been on a Star Wars soundtrack? I felt like I'd heard it before (no, not in the sense that Soule stole it from someone else).

Yes, "Bastila Shan" (which is played as Carth first talks to you inside the apartment in Taris) is my favorite track in the entire game. Amazing. :D

I also adore the music on the plains of Dantooine (non-battle-- I think it's like a harp) and the battle music on Dantooine (those triplets, I think they are).

On the site where you can download 'em, they're #19 "Dantooine Outback" and #20 "Mandalorian Battle."

    Incredible. :D

I just love the Malak/Sith theme in all its variations.
The Unknown World is my second favourite.
