lately i have been at a cross roads in my life. I ended a five year monogamous relationship, opened up old wounds, but am doing everything I can to focus on moving forwards. Between that and unaddressed attachment issues, I think that is why I have had Lana del Rey’s Ride on repeat for the last two weeks. It speaks to an inability for someone to get to the root cause of their issues, instead focusing on plowing ahead to the point of exhaustion. For me, that manifests itself in focusing on work and materialism. For example, I recently purchased an entry-level espresso machine because it is getting cold and I wanted hot coffee in my new apartment. But what am I really purchasing? An extremely temporary relief from unaddressed pain. Just ride. Just look ahead. Now. What’s in your hands?

 

Lana del Rey feels so much like David Lynch movies and Angelo Badalementi , the film noir and flirting with danger .
