Lyrics lately i have been at a cross roads in my life. I ended a five year monogamous relationship, opened up old wounds, but am doing everything I can to focus on moving forwards. Between that and unaddressed attachment issues, I think that is why I have had Lana del Rey’s Ride on repeat for the last two weeks. It speaks to an inability for someone to get to the root cause of their issues, instead focusing on plowing ahead to the point of exhaustion. For me, that manifests itself in focusing on work and materialism. For example, I recently purchased an entry-level espresso machine because it is getting cold and I wanted hot coffee in my new apartment. But what am I really purchasing? Lana del Rey feels so much like David Lynch movies and Angelo Badalementi , the film noir and flirting with danger . Video Games was the one for me, there was a period when I just couldn't stop listening to it.
I voted other and I was going to suggest "Shake It Out" but then I realized that was Florence + the Machine and not Lana Del Rey.
I once drove three hours for a Lana Del Rey concert. Courtney Love opened, then the show was canceled due to inclement weather (no rain, just potential lightning). So I ended up driving three hours for a Courtney Love show. At least Ride is a good driving song.
