Discussion Lando Lando's not a TV Show, he's a FILM.

In my version, they’re confirming that they’ve actually signed their contracts and are about to actually jump in a limo and head to the Lady Luck sound stage at Pinewood

 

The already did announce it once, at this point there is nothing more they could say. And there is no purpose in bringing Donald Glover on stage to say they are doing something, when they haven't even started getting the basics done. Look at how long it took to announce Kenobi, a project that had been in development for years.

You bring in the stars when there is something to show for. Daisy Ridley now appeared on stage on what will be the next movie. On a project for which the director is known and a script has been worked on. With Lando, there is nothing but talking about the show, with nothing definitive being set yet. Imagine having Donald Glover on stage, only for the project to not happen in the end, like it has been the case for quite a few other projects. That would look horrible. It's one thing for that to happen when there is little more than speculation that person X is doing something, it is something entirely different when you make a big splash with an announcement involving a star and then having to backtrack. Just look at Rogue Squadron.

 

Yeah, everybody knows this, obviously. What I’m saying is, I want them to move beyond the negotiations phase and actually start making this thing.

I attended part of the panel "Bringing Worlds to Life: The Concept Art of ILM" on the Twin Suns Stage today (8th April) at Celebration Europe

Doug Chiang was on the panel and mentioned that he's usually working on several different projects at the same time. He mentioned that a couple of projects are in prep, but said that he couldn't say anything more.

My guess is that one might be Lando, but I wonder what the other might be?

 

Lando may be in early concept art ideas stage. I am sure he also works on countless projects that we never hear about as they get cancelled before we do

 

I think the odds of Williams being involved with this, whenever it ends up happening, are basically non-existent. If anyone saw him during the RotJ 40th anniversary panel the other day, he looked and sounded really tired and more than a little out of it. It's sad, but the years seem to have finally caught up to him.

 

Wonder if that might be what caused the delay. That it was originally planned with Williams playing an important role, but his health throwing that in doubt adn calling for a change in plans.

The worse thing the article says about the series (which is in the title of said article of course) is that Simien hasn't heard any updates as of yet. I'd hardly say that's a surefire cancellation. I'm taking this as a "no news is good news" situation. They cite scheduling conflicts, not creative differences for the delay, which to me is a good thing and a reason to be hopeful.. Both Simien and Glover have said they'd love to do it, with Glover even saying he has been talking to Kennedy about it. I still maintain a cautiously optimistic stance on this happening.

 

Just don’t expect it until like 2026 at the very earliest. I bet and that’s optimistic if I actually think it will happen it’s 2027

Don’t get me wrong. I still do as the casting for Lando in Solo was as perfect as you could do. So I hope it still happens

 

Glover works so so much and he's all but confirmed for the Community movie next, and strikes and all, but I won't say this is cancelled. Dude's busy!

Jeff Sneider says Glover and his brother are now writing the show themselves and that Justin Simien is off the project.

Justin had made some passive-aggressive comments when asked about the Lando show the other day, so this tracks.
