Language of Rodians

Is that Romanian the Rodians blab in KOTOR? It sounds a lot like it from what I hear at work.

 

I don't think so. That would mean that in CT we heard Romanian ("Echuta"). And aren't Rodians speaking the same language as Twi'leks in KOTOR, just have different accents and voices?

But of course that could be Rodians and Twi'leks speaking Romanian. Surely some Romanian would know.

 

I always thought the Rodian language seen and heard in the movies + games was a hodgepodge of different languages merged into one? Or a language that hasn't been used in a long time or rarely heard at any rate (around the world).

 

In RPG canon the Rodians have their own language "Rodese", but a lot of galaxy-wise Rodians speaks Huttese which is the common trade language of the outer-rim and Hutt space regions.

 

I think that Huttese is a fun language to hear. From the many times ive played Episode 1 Racer, i think i have the language down!

^^ yes and no. From what I remember, Burtt used a bunch of known, obscure languages and some jibberish mixed with stuff like pig latin to make every Star Wars dialect.

As I thought. I knew it was something about understanding. But really . . . I'm only trivialising Star Wars fiction. Fans shsould already know it blindfolded.

 

Me, I'm more surprised I was able to translate that. I've never 'got' pig latin before, but it just kinda clicked this time...ogay emay.

From the sound of it, the speak exactly the same as Twi'lek in KOTOR.
