OK, I know it's a little too late, and for the record, I love Samuel Jackson. But re-watching "The Matrix" for the last couple of days, getting ready for "Reloaded", I can't help but wonder how bad ass Laurence Fishburne would've been as Mace Windu. Fighting moves, delivery of dialogue, and most of all, Mr Fishburne would not have TRIED so hard to be a bad ass in the Geonosian Arena ("This party's over...I don't think so")
    What do you guys think?

I'd prefer Samuel L. Jackson over Fishburne.

Larry Fishburne is cool. He may have made a good Mace Windu. But to me he just doesn't look the part.

I don't know...I mean, Samuel L Jackson is a fantastic actor, yet his performance in the prequels so far has been incredibly flat and lifeless. Who's to say Lawrence Fishburne could have done any better with the same script and direction?

Fishburne is a good actor but I also prefer Jackson. I like the fact that he's so imposing and has such presence. It befits the 2nd baddest Jedi around.

I think Carl Weathers would have kicked Palpatine's ass! ;)

Gary Colman could have played Mini-Mace. :D

Just 'cause they're both black, bald and bad@$$ doesn't (in my mind) mean one can draw an instant comparison for the roles... Mace Windu was not scripted as black, bald or (possibly) even human; in some sketches he was drawn more like Eeth Koth.

    Rick McCallum loves you!

    no.

sorry, he just isn't Mace Windu.

    He's too... Morpheus.

Can you seroiusly see him being in the Matrix trilogy AND the star wars trilogy.

    He'd just be too... Morpheus.

Well, he may not be the "One", or the "Chosen One", but he'd sure make a great "Emperor". :D

He already plays a Yoda like character in The Matrix, to me it would be weird to see him as Mace or any other Jedi.
And besides I prefer Samuel L. Jackson :D...

No disrespect to SLJ, but he's never really struck me as a brilliant actor. He does well enough, but his performance in the PT is just as good as many of the performances in the OT, and that's enough for me.

Anyway, he defines "Mace Windu" now, IMHO. Fishburne is great, too, but I wouldn't trade SLJ for him.

Fisherburne is perfect as Morpheus. Jackson is perfect as Mace Windu. I wouldn't trade either :D

Samuel Jackson plays a very simple two-dimesional character in my opinion. This is not the actors fault, it is the script he has been asked to deliver. His character is so lifeless when he dies in Episode 3 I won't feel any emotion, because I genuinely don't care about this character.

I believe Laurence Fishburne would of done a good job, although I'm sure he would of wanted a better script instead of being in Star Wars because he can.

"What does that got to do with anything?"

"We are just trying to free your mind Anakin."

Rick McCallum thinks you're serioulsy deranged!

He would have been a great Windu IMO

Actually I heard someone express this exact idea a few weeks after TPM came out

And I was just thinking about it when I came upon this thread

    deja'vu (sp?)

It almost made me sick when on ET they were bragging about having CG in 98% of the film and how they used extras and then replaced their face with agent smith and were acting like they were the first to do that.

A lotta good points for and against! I think I just wanted to see Mace fight as well as he's rumored to be able; when he's charging Jango, he just seems a bit...I dunno. I mean, I can appreciate efficiency or economy of movement, but he just seemed a little...clumsy...but just when he was charging Jango. There. I said it. Sorry! But I do love SLJ, like I said.

And damn, Carl Weathers?!? I forgot about HIM!
