Lately I've been listening to a lot of audio books while commuting, particularly the Star Wars Legends collection. Random House has been putting out new unabridged recordings of a lot of Legends books over the past couple of years, and they're pretty great. Currently, I'm listening to I, JEDI by Michael A. Stackpole (which I haven't read since it originally came out in 1998!). Anyone else a fan of these? What are you listening to now?

I own Shatterpoint, Allegiance, the Rogue Squadron quadrology, Kenobi, Fatal Alliance, Annihilation, Scoundrels, and Shadow Hunter. I’ve listened to Shatterpoint and Allegiance twice, and I’ll definitely be listening to the others again at some point while I’m waiting for my monthly audible credit to come in. They’re all super well-done and the narrators are the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to. Sullivan Jones was the perfect choice for Shatterpoint, he does Mace Windu so well. I’m really hoping they do unabridged NJO audiobooks sometime soon, I’ve been meaning to reread that series, and I’d probably revisit it a lot if I had them in audiobook form.

I want to say the Unifying Force audiobook is unabridged, but I’m not certain.

I, too, am really hoping for a full NJO unabridged release some day as I want to re-read the series but just don't have the time because of all the other new books I still have to read!

Aside from NJO, my top pick for the next unabridged release is Shadows of Mindor, I love that book so much

Just finished X-Wing: Iron Fist. I forgot how good that one was!

My favorite Legends audio experience was finally getting to listen to the radio dramas after about 15 years of waiting. :D Top tier Star Wars!

It is sadly not. Which is a true shame. Perhaps one day...

I own about a half dozen of them. Most are on YouTube these days regardless.

One of the most interesting was the Dark Empire adaptations which differed from the comics slightly, had Fett killing a darksider iirc.

Overall I think they are great.

Boba didn't actually kill Baddon Fass. Close but no Carababba cigar.

"Millennium Falcon on screens, Katth. They are almost in tractor range."
"Excellent. In moments, they'll be safely aboard our ship."
"And then we go after Boba Fett!"
    "Patience, Baddon, patience."
"That bounty hunter almost killed me!"

Vader's authority has passed to us, bounty hunter. And that blaster won't help you at all.

Audible unabridged "Legends" audiobooks are very much "my thing" when it comes to Star Wars these past few years. Yes, I watch some of the live action shows, but the old stuff, in audio format (I simply don't have the time or focus to re-re-re(?)-read them these days) is my most enjoyable interaction with Star Wars. I listen when going for a walk, grocery shopping, doing chores, and while falling asleep. Sometimes it's a few minutes, other times, a few hours. On a few occasions when I've been sick in bed, I've gotten through large portions of books (silver linings, right?).

I'm ecstatic that that Random House is *finally* releasing unabridged versions of the X-wing series and most (all?) of Zahn's novels. I'm hoping they'll eventually get around to AC Crispin's Han Solo trilogy, provided they consider it part of the "Essential Legends" collection (Which they should. Just do them all! I'll give you my money!).

I'm currently listening to I, Jedi, which I read when if first came out (duh.) and then again a couple years later. Marc Thompson's performance is a solid seven stars out of five, as per usual. But, I hate to say it -- especially about a Coran Horn/Stackpole story, for some reason 20 years later, I don't think like the book itself as much as I did back in the day (maybe because I'm old?). I've posted elsewhere on these boards that I find "Legends" (the Bantam books, aka "my EU," in particular) to be more "fun" than the Disnovels. Some of the new ones are good, but I prefer the "feel" of the old stuff, so it's disappointing to me that I'm not liking one of the main books of "my canon" (i.e. Zahn/Stackpole/Alston/Crispin) as much as I used too, but it is what it is. I have to do a bit more self-analysis to figure out why, but I do wonder if I previously held (youthfully) I, Jedi in higher regard simply because it was Stackpole/Horn. I will say, the post-Jedi academy portion of the story is better, IMO, and maybe my personal slog through Stackpole's working around the KJA story is part of my diminished enjoyment this time around.

Anyway, I suppose that was a bit of a side track, so back to the main topic: Yeah, I too am a big fan of what Random House has been doing these past few years and hope they keep it up. It's a lot of books, but if they do do the NJO I may finally have to dive in. I tapped out a few books into the NJO when college, life, and other pursuits became more important and interesting, but I know a lot of people really like it, so I'm willing to get back in the saddle if it's in unabridged audio (again, simply cannot make the time to actually read it, sadly).

Also, I noticed you're a fellow pre-2000er, @wild_karrde OG oldies forever! Not that I've always consistently posted here, or much, over 25 (yikes!) years, but it's always fun to see another 19XX registration date. Well, enough rambling from me. Back to my Dagobah exile!

Finished my yearly re-listen of Darth Plagueis. Without a doubt the best audiobook, of any franchise. Just a real treat to listen too, but admittedly I do get kind of sad towards the penultimate and final chapter, as I know the book is about to end. Wish it was longer!

I have only listened to the Darth Plagueis audiobook because of the excellent voice acting work for Plagueis and Darth Bane Path of Destruction
