we know her real parents are Padme and Anakin Skywalker, and her adopted father is Bail Organa, but what about her adopted mother?

We'll probably meet her in Episode III. She's been mentioned in Republic, and Bail mentioned she had had a miscarriage.

yeah, IIRC some source (I forget which) stated that Leia replaced the baby that was miscarried to cover up the event and therby more effectively protect Leia's true identity.

All indications are that Bail's wife dies not long after Leia's adoption, maybe no more than five years after...perhaps SHE'S the one Leia remembers as the "beautiful, kind, but sad" mother in ROTJ? :(

No, GL specifically says that he wanted one of the Sywalker twins to have a memory of their mother, that means padme

I imagine that Leia would remember both to some degree. Mrs. Organa was mentioned in Republic 61 IIRC, and it appears that she nearly died trying to have a child.

I don't have the book here but I'm pretty sure that in the novelisation of ROTJ Leia has flashbacks of her adopted mother as well, she is only mentioned as a Minister of Education on Alderaan though. I think it is in the scene where Luke tells her, and she says that somehow she has always known, and then it goes back to when she was young and her parents (Bail and Mrs. Organa) used to say things when they thought she was sleeping. Things that indicated that she wasn't really their daughter.

She's being portrayed by Rebecca Jackson Mendoza in the film, and current word from the grapevine is that her name is "Breha Organa."

So I've been told. (Lucas further mining his original notes, apprently.)

I foresee the "Minister of Education" backstory being upheld, if not something quite similar in tenor; it would make sense that -- if Bail were moonlighting as his world's own senator -- his wife would pull a similar detail elsewhere, in addition to her duties at the Alderaan royal court.

I find it interesting in the EU that Leia always has memories of Bail and her three aunts, but not Mrs. Organa. Maybe Mrs. Organa died a short time after Padme did? Or at least before Leia's formal education.

I remember Leia saying that Coruscant reminded her of the Queen's jewels. I always thought she meant her mother although calling her the Queen seems a bit formal but then I think that same book tried to say that Leia always felt distant from her adoptive parents, which I always felt cheapened their eventual appearance in ROTS. I think the book was the same one that talked about her aunts. Children of the Jedi? Planet of Twilight? I can't remember which

A character's name isn't considered to be a "spoiler" under the accepted protocols, since they're used in the conventional adverstising/promotional material that *everyone* sees, spoilt and non-spoilt alike.

The "Queen's jewels" reference might have come from that SW Tales story over a year back, wherein Bail takes Leia to Coruscant for the first time. But there was very, very little "frigidity" present in her relationship with her foster parents -- the radio drama alone depicts a warmth and intimacy between she and her father, and the Jedi novelization implied a similar reciprocity with her foster mother. As to whether Lady Organa remained among the still-breathing up through ANH...remains to be seen.
