Leia's Wrong Outfit

I took this picture when I relized that Leia is wearing her outfit from The Empire Strikes Back ( Cloud City sceen ). For those of you who don't know this is A New Hope's box.

It is the best outfit that Leia wore throughout the entire trilogy. I can see why they did that.

Nothing beats Leia in her snow gear.

 

I wish the Drew Struzan poster had kept her looking like that , not painted her head in that 'damsel in distress' pose.

That's actually her outfit worn on Bespin, not her Hoth uniform.

What I want to know is why is it when Leia is imprisoned by the Empire, she goes back to her Hoth outfit? Like while Han's being tortured, she just changes her clothes again?

 

Well, it was her outfit. And the other was borrowed.

Plus her Hoth gear was better suited for running around than the other outfit. I'm just glad they kept her Cloud City hairstyle otherwise that would have been ridiculous.

 

So did Leia guess that she would have to do a lot of running around?

Besides, I don't think Lando, after having just betrayed the whole gang, would tap Leia on the shoulder and say, "Alright, give me my clothes back."

 

What that's not the ANH box! It's like that but it has Leia looking up not in any Bespin outfit.

 

I have that box, and yes it looks exactly like that.

Maybe she was wearing the snowsuit under the other outfit.

 

Who cares? The snowsuit is all that matters.

 

There's a bunch of mistakes on the covers. Like on my RotJ cover they have the Vader and Luke duel from ESB. It just takes some getting used to...

 

I know. My Ep. IV has it too... Ooops!

 

Leia in snow gear??? I prefer he in her bikini!!! Or even her senatorial gown, she looks kind of cute in it.

 

I could care less about her body in the bikini shot. I love her facial expressions while she's in the snow gear. I think that is the height of Carrie's performance, that and I think she looks the prettiest in the scene where they shut down the blast doors.


The feeling of helplessness, of concern, worry, fear, love, knowing that the odds are against them, etc. All of that is on her face and more, a great scene, she looks her best right then and there.


I suppose the reason they did that was because they were better pictures suited for the cover. The cover helps sell something, so having the infamous fight on the catwalk for the final Vader vs. Luke duel is preferable, I would think. That and I can see why they chose Leia in ESB over Leia in ROTJ.

I was talking about it in terms of movie-making rather than her character's personal decision to change clothes.

Perhaps Leia didn't want to hang on to the clothes because Lando betrayed them?

My ideas were coming from a completely different perspective.

That reminds me of adme in AOTC; how di dshe know to wear that white "arena" outfit that was suited to fighting when she was at Shmi's funeral?

I'm more interested in how did padme's white outfit know to magically hem its self after it was ripped by monster-kitty?

Another mess up which I thought was amusing is on a cloth wall covering at my local movie theatre. It shows Luke and Vader's lightsabre duel from Empire but Luke's blade is Red and Vader's is Green. Whoops!

 

Interesting this thread is meditate on it I will. Pehaps it was a mistake at the movie cover factory or pehaps George likes the cloud city outfit. Remember once you start down the dark path forever will it dominate you destiny, as it did Obi-Wan's apprentice.
