Kravitz is a natural to play Hendrix, from his look to his musical ability.

Ummm, last time I checked, Kravitz wasn't in the same league as Hendrix in terms of playing the guitar.

Lenny's older stuff was much better (Pre-Afro days). But he can still wail on the axe.

This is a freakin outrage. Hendrix doesn't have half the ability as Kravitz.

 

Hendrix was better as a pure guitarist, but Kravitz is a more gifted overall musician and songwriter.

 

I don't know about better songwriter. That's more of a personal taste. I feel that Hendrix's material was better because it didn't fall into traditional rock progressions.

Famous musicians shouldn't play other famous musicians in movies.

Now it is, but at the time, it was revolutionary. Kravitz hasn't revolutionized rock music.

 

Last year Pauly Shore was hired to play him but due to budget issues the project fell through. Shame really.

 

He did. He choked to death while regurgitating "American Woman" and has been dead ever since.

Although, it would be difficult to explain to the kid how a dead man is able to do GAP commercials.

 

I'd leave the role up to some unknown actor.

And I stress the word actor.

 

Everyone keeps saying that Lenny won't be good playing Jimi Hendrix but I don't see anyone else offering up suggestions as to who would be good... how about some suggestions before you bash a good musician...

Hendrix never used turntables or samples so he wouldn't know...

 

The voice isn't right, and I doubt he can act well anyway. Just because he's a multiracial guitarist doesn't mean he should play Hendrix.

If they could get him to lose a lot of weight, I think CUba Gooding Jr. would make and outstanding Hendrix.
