I am currently reading a bunch of the Star Wars novels for the first time. Mostly I just like to make representations of the characters that have not already been cast in movies, characters for whom there is little or no art out there.

Hello Blue_Lekku, and welcome to Fan Art! The codes for all the markups are listed under the "Markup Codes" button up in the title bar at the top of the page--it will show you how to post a thumbnail or simply a link. When I started here, I just copied that entire section, printed it out and kept it handy until I could do it without reference!

Briefly--and first--when you look at your album at Photobucket, you want to look for the coding for the image you want to post: make sure you copy the URL (the one with http:// etc...) to use for the post. For a link, you'll want to format it this way:

A brief description here if you want

This will put up a link directly to the image in your album.

And I'm excited to see your drawing/painting/artwork--Qwi Xux always sounded so beautiful, and I don't think I've ever seen a picture of her!

Thanks for the tip, FalconFan! Qwi Xux is hard to find, and the few pix I've seen don't seem to do her beauty any real justice. I've never done fan art before, but I just really wanted to create a version of this character to match the one I imagined in my head as I read the Jedi Academy series.

 

Oh, wow!! That's just gorgeous! Using the peacock feathers for her "feathery hair" is inspired! I love your vision of her--this sort of ethereal beauty is what I, too, imagined for her (and having her in uniform is a nice touch, too). A lovely, lovely image! Is this PS, or some other imaging program? I'm a "techno-doof," so it's more curiosity than anything! Great job depicting an oft-overlooked character (who figured quite prominently at one time!)!

Wow, yeah, those are really good!! I've never heard of Qwi Xu (problly spelled that wrong) but She looks awesome!! I haven't read that far into the series yet

For thoes of you not emersed that much inSWbooks:Qwi Xux was a scientist Han and Chewie saw at the Maw Instalation inside the Maw Cluster. She believed that the machiens she created for the Empire were for good until Han showed her how destructive thoes weapons were.
After being convenced, Qwi helped Han and Chewie escape from the instlation after being caught eariler.

Later in another book Antillies of the Rogue Squadrion fell in love with Qwi while being her body guarg. Later in that book a Jedi-to-be turned to the Dark Side and elt that Qwi was a threat and took Qwi's life force(or something like her life force.

But about the pic, I feel you hit the description dead on!!!

Thank you, Darth_Omnis, for the synopsis for Qwi Xux--I actually really liked her character and used to imagine (back when I read those novels) that Wedge would marry her... I think that Iella was actually a better match for him though!

And what an awesome self-portrait, Blue_Lekku!! Amy Allen, move over! I think we should all make self-portraits as our most favorite SW characters--pilots, Sith, Jedi...."pirates..." This is very well done--nice lighting and excellent skintones. A wonderful job--and how does it feel, to be a beautiful blue Twi'lek...? A very beautiful picture!

I love your Qwi-Xux. The only official picture I have seen of her is just weird loking.

 

BLI was looking at you Qwi pic again. Sorry to nit pck but I can't help but notice that her ear seemed a little out of place to me.

But I can tell you took a lot of time to create it you need to do Qwi Xux pic.

Heey! Nice job with Qwi (whoever she is... ) Lovely photoshopping with both of the pics!
I noted that ear too. It seems to stand out from the pic too much... Maybe her hair does it... Don't know...
But otherwise the pic is just awesome!

Gorgeous! I really like the first one, you just deal with the skin in a very good way!
By the way, is the second one a hand drawing?

 

I think the ear stands out a little because its skin tone is a little pinker than the rest of the face. But other than that it looks fantastic.

I can't remember what happened to her character. Didn't Kyp purge her memories so she couldn't build another sun crusher or something?

Hah! Cool stuff, Blue Lekku. I really like your unique take on Qwi. The peacock feathers make her look very exotic and alien, even though we know she has pink hair feathers. I still like yours better. It gives her some flair.

That's a pretty decent job on Aayla Secura photomanip too. Twi'leks > all.

As for Qwi having pink hair feathers, I don't doubt those who say they are pink (I am sure there are many who know the books more thoroughly than I do) -- but I honestly don't remember Anderson ever mentioning the color of her hair/feathers. I am reading the Jedi Academy Trilogy even now (although I took a break between the first book and the last two), and it seems he mentions that her feathery hair is soft and pearlescent, but not any particular color. I am probably missing something, but that is why I took the liberty of making her hair blue and green. For what it's worth.

However, who's to really complain? As I said your Qwi looks great. Hell, my Twi'leks have ears instead of those little pointy nub things.

 

I like Blue_Lekku's version better. That official image makes her look plain. Wasn't she supposed to be an erotic beauty that really turned heads? I know Wedge had the hots for her.

Exotic maybe. I doubt they described her as erotic. Blue_Lekku's take is a lot more pleasing than the Essential Characters one. In fact, many of their character renditions are terrible, IMO.

 

YES! That is exactly why I wanted to make a new version of her ... I had actually looked up that pic of her, and I didn't think it did her justice at all. She looked plain and manly, not willowy and exotically beautiful. I guess I wasn't paying attention to the stats and figured the artist just decided to make her hair feathers red/pink.

At any rate, I'm glad there are others who agree with me that Qwi deserved a better depiction!
