    Say America dose Suck.

Don't go crazy I like America for the most part. I like it so much I live in New York, The "True" Capital of America Ahem, East Siiiied! I go to church from time to time. I am a Coast Gaurd reservist, I like NY Red Delicious Apples and Apple pies made from the Famous aformentioned apples. I enjoy rasin cookies, and Cider and milk.

I Hate beer, Its time to admit it. Americans can't make beer, theres nothing wrong with it.

But We are all also star wars fans. And we all Know Corran Horns famed speech.

"If someone calls you a Hutt ignore them, If a second person calls you a Hutt begin to wonder. by the time the 27th (or whatever # he was up to) calls you a Hutt invest in spice trade a get a drool Bucket."

Why everybody round the globe keeps telling us just how much we Suck. Did you see the Headlines on MSNBC's "the worlds reaction" to the 2004's election and swearing in of Poor poor President Bush? (I hate the guys policies but some of that stuff is just uncalled for)

What do you think is wrong with the US of A? What makes s just so damnd Jerk-offy? is it Political? Cultural? Is it West coast, South Side?, Mid west? North Side? or dear I say it East Coast?

Who cares about the attrocities of the British empire, Or the European colonialism for which we got the planet from, this is abou the Good ole USA.

What makes us such bad gobal leaders? is it out Dichotomy? our tendancy to change our minds. Or is it our Love of Planes, Guns and Sci Fi?

Do you Hate Bat-Man or Spider-man? The X-men? Or our love of Tastefully but still scantilly cald Women? Our bad Romance novels or our Interantional Policy?

It seems we have ticked the world off on Multiple levels and its been going on for a while now.

So Tell me, Whats do you think is Wrong with us, What would you do to fix it. WHY DOSE THE WORLD HATE THE USA SO?

ps. NYC rules you all suck, East Coast Dogg, Oh yeah! ;)

    See last post.

Yes, Bubba, bury your head in the sand, and instruct J-Rod how to do it whilst you're at it.

Certainly, no criticism of America could be wrong! For America is the Great Liberator, and not a person on earth has suffered for American Needs! American Foreign Policy is Benevolent, seeking to Liberate Oppressed people and to combat Evil wherever it's found. It has never done wrong by anyone, and to suggest that it may form the basis for much anti-Americanism is Wrong!

Americans are often called arrogant, but this is false; being the richest and most wasteful country, with the largest military and force projection on Earth is clearly a humbling exercise! Not to mention calling a national event a "World Series".

It is also said that Americans are culturally ignorant and poorly travelled! What a lie, suggesting Americans are brought up from childhood to believe that everything that matters in the world exists within the 50 states!

It is said Americans lack empathy, that they cannot think in the perspective of another. False, clearly false; Americans demonstrate a wide understanding of world opinion, from New York to LA!

See, I don't hate America Bubba, but that blow-smoke-up-your-own-ass attitude of yours, demonstrated in your reply, is precisely why people don't like Americans. And if I don't hate America, and could be that sarcastic, imagine how people who've suffered so Americans can have cheap oil and cheap clothes and hegemonic influence, feel.

    If you can.

They hate us because we're loud, obnoxious, self-righteous, belligerant, intolerant, and quasi-imperialistic. When we travel abroad. At home we don't really have a national identity quite yet.

EDIT: Almost forgot our penchant for hubris.

No not at all, I don't believe that is the case. The people of the world are more likely, afraid of what Amarica represents, the multi-mishmass or cultures etc. And what the world could one day become.

Or admire a country that seems to have itertwined these cultures to become a nation of through it's history.

Because we think we are better than everyone else.

We are number 1 in the world, but we are not humble about it. This tends to piss people off.

People hated the Yankees, but everyone loved the Chicago Bulls.

The main reason I think alot of countries hate us is the fact that we have this "Fight Evil across the Globe" mentality...yet we won't fight the "evil" that exists inside our borders.

I'm guessing most of the rest of the world doesn't like the "we know best" attitude.

Americans are hard to understand. For instance, the USA is the world's largest producer of pornography, yet when a boob falls out "accidently" on TV, it's the end of the world as we know it.

You All raise significant points but Just explain a little more.

maybe because my family Hails from Jamaica (and by extention most of subjigated areas of the British empire excluding scottland and Germany) or the fact I hang out from time to time with Immigrants and or 1st generation Americans.

Is it not common belife that one nation thrives at the expense of another? I Know several Pakistani and Indian Americans who Admire the British Empire, An empire who infact 75% of the worlds problems can be traced to.

    Where are our supporters!?

as for the whole behaving like @$$holes when we visit other countries, Ive visited 1,2,3,4 yes 4 Caribbean countries. I have always behaved in a proper manor, "Do Unto others as you would have them Do unto you." Is that not how you behave when visiting other countries?

I personaly have never come across the "Arrogant American" in my visits. But then Again the 1 time I left the western Hemisphere was when I was 2-3 years old.

Finally whats really wrong with being the biggest exporter of Porn on Earth. Sex is a natural connection between two individuals! Almost poetic!
Just because some aspects of American Sociaty ebrade the idiotic puritanism of the past (The old white people with too much time on their hands. Hell I never even saw that superbowl didn't even give a damn later). Most people I talk to didn't care either way.

I'd love to see the Aryan Nation and KKK being bombed into oblivion! Hell I want to plot the attack vectors of the planes myself, but It looks bad when you bomb your own country so, I doubt it will happen.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, just that's a quick example of the contradictions in American society that is hard to understand.

The problem as I see it is there's a lot of do as I say, not as I do - for instance the USA is a huge critic of other nations human rights record, yet will be content with ignoring its own shortcomings in this area. It's the world's richest country and the largest polluter, yet won't sign Kyoto. It talks of stopping and punishing those who carry out atrocities world wide, yet won't ratify the world court.

Then there's the cultural imperialism issues, idealogical issues and religious issues.

There's no simple answer - like "they're just jealous" - it's very complex.

Y'know, I resent this remark. Just this past November, we voted to keep the Democrats out of power for another four years.

Sure, we've got a long way to go, but we're making progress, dammit! :)

I think you just hit on what is so GREAT about America! We try and please everyone as much as we can, because we are all about pleasing ourselves.

But I do get the hard to understand part. I mean, this is a country that twice elected Bill Clinton for 8 years of peace and prosperity and then twice elected George W. Bush for 8 years of war and fear.

I think that mostly had to do with the fact that Clinton and Bush were more marketable to the general American public than their opponents. (funny how war veterans have such an astounding losing streak in the presidental elections since Bush sr lost to Clinton)

No kidding. Remember, veteran Jimmy Carter lost to Reagan, veteran Walter Mondale lost to Reagan, I believe Clinton beat a few veterans to get the nomination and of course he beat Bush.

I guess Bush slides by as a veteran, but come on, we all know he was too stoned to be a real soldier, that's why he didn't take his physical! So counting Bush as non-veteran, he beat McCain, John Kerry, and Al Gore, all of whom actually had the balls to go to nam.

But hey, I guess we want Dick 'five deferments' Cheney running things.

Well, Bush isn't a veteran technically, since he didn't go to Vietnam (or shoot at or get shot at by anyone), and he was in the Texas National Guard, not the Air Force proper.

I've been half-joking in my first two posts but...

I mean, this is a country that twice elected Bill Clinton for 8 years of peace and prosperity and then twice elected George W. Bush for 8 years of war and fear.

"8 years of peace"? "8 years of peace"?
    1/20/93: Bill Clinton takes office

2/26/93: First WTC bombing, kills 6, injures over 1,000

6/25/96: Khobar Towers barracks bombing, kills 19

8/7/98: Bombing of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, kills 225, injures around 4,000

10/12/00: Attack on the USS Cole, kills 17, injures 39

    1/20/01: Bill Clinton leaves office

"8 years of peace"? I have 267 reasons to disagree.

And that doesn't even count the disaster that was Somalia, which taught people like Osama bin Ladin that the United States was an easy target.

You're able to look at the eight years before 9/11/01 and see peace? It's no wonder this country doesn't trust people like you.

For all the mistakes that he may have made (is any war flawless?), Bush at least understands that we have not been at peace for some time.

And for all the fair criticism that they may have made, people like Kerry do not. And no amount of experience in Vietnam makes up for that.

(By the way, the election was nearly three months ago. Kerry lost. Quit campaigning for him. To coin a phrase move on.)

(Or don't; it's not like I actually want to see the Democratic Party become viable again.)

McCartney, I'll grant that quite a few people on this planet hate the United States, and I see at least two major groups who do so. The first group wants to murder us by the thousand. The second group thinks comments like yours are witty and insightful.

For the life of me, I do not understand why we should care about the opinion of either group.

Yep, and reducing the opposition to "evil" or "stupid" really goes miles and miles towards dispelling the notion that Americans are insular, arrogant buggers, Bubba.

Time to crack out the Toynbee:
"America is a large, friendly dog in a very small room. Every time it wags its tail, it knocks over a chair. "
    Arnold Toynbee (1889 - 1975

What you and your countrymen so haughtily do is dismiss any hurt feelings over the chairs as irrelevant or stupid.

Which is why people dislike you.

Culturally ignorant...that's a laugh! I have been to 13 other countries, not counting Canada and Mexico as they are still on this continant, and still haven't been to all 50 states. The fact is America is so big that we got alot here to see.
