So, which do you prefer? Light or dark? (And why) [face_thinking]

I'm not sure... the Jedis have said that they basically hide natural emotions like fear and grief, and the sith have a habit for being power hungry. Neither seem appealing, but I think I will have to go with sith, because of how passionate they are.

Yeah, it's true. I prefer the sith as well because of their passion, anger, hunger for power etc. [face_devil] In real life, however, neither of them is the best choice. ;)

Light side, obviously. But not as a Jedi. I believe you can sufficiently be a force for good in the galaxy without turning yourself into a loveless robot.

light side for sure. there's no happiness in the Dark, and on the light side your apprentice doesn't kill you in your sleep.

If you believe what certain Darksiders say- the Dark Side embraces all passions- you can be passionately happy, just as much as passionately hateful.

Palpatine & Anakin in the RoTS novel- at the opera- part of their conversation:

Palpatine shifted his weight, settling in comfortably. "Perhaps the real difference between the Jedi and the Sith is only in their orientation; a Jedi gains power through understanding, and a Sith gains understanding through power. This is the true reason the Sith have always been more powerful than the Jedi. The Jedi fear the dark side so much they cut themselves off from the most important aspect of life: passion. Of any kind. They don't even allow themselves to love."
Except for me, Anakin thought. But then, I've never been exactly the perfect Jedi.
"The Sith do not fear the dark side. The Sith have no fear. They embrace the whole spectrum of experience, from the heights of transcendent joy to the depths of hatred and despair. Beings have these emotions for a reason, Anakin. That is why the Sith are more powerful: they are not afraid to feel."
"The Sith rely on passion for strength," Anakin said, "but when that passion runs dry, what's left?"
"Perhaps nothing. Perhaps a great deal. Perhaps it never runs dry at all. Who can say?"

As you can see by the Jedi insignia to your left, I admire the principles of the Jedi. I prefer them to the Dark Side users because they teach discipline and work to conquer their passions e.g. lust. They are also truly selfless, as can be seen in the Clone Wars when they put their own lives at stake in order to repel tyranny from the galaxy. The Dark Side, on the other hand, fosters deceit and selfishness. In my opinion, only a mentally weak force-user will resort to the Dark Side because it is, in Master Yoda's words, the easier and more seductive route. On the other hand, it takes incredible patience and humility to become a Jedi. What's more is that Dark Side users (the Sith especially) merely use others as a means to an end. As can be seen in Episode III, Sidious just took advantage of Anakin's weaknesses in order to achieve his goal of galactic domination by overcoming the Jedi. The Sith lords do not treat each other as friends at all, even though they are allies, and this is just something I could not do.

That's a good distinction to make. Indeed, not everyone in the Light Side is a Jedi and not everyone in the Dark Side is a Sith. Despite my admiration for the Jedi, there is something I do not like and it is this: they get rid of passion altogether but passion can be used for good. True Good is the conquering of your passions, not the absence of your passions.

Dark side of course! Use ur passions! It's natural why deny them? It's part of who we are. Why restrict urself?

And of course the Dark side org I would join of course would be the Sith baby!

Indeed, passions should be used as that' what makes us who we are - but they should be used for good not for bad! If the latter, then one is misusing their passions. If you use your passions recklessly then your passions will take control and be the master of you, rather than vice versa.

The dark side corrupts you and as we have seen throughout history, grants you only temporary power if that.

Hmm, tough call. The Lightside get's you some crazy health benefits, stability and tenure. But the Darkside gives you alot more potential for upward advancement and success based on merit.

I say get in touch with your employment agency and do a full cost-benefit analysis.

i prefer light but i would love to be a sith because i think overall there stronger for many reasons that have already been said previously! also, i would like to be a sith that doesnt get killed off within 2 minutes! i would like to live a long successful powerful dark life or just be a jedi who isnt a **** like Mace Windu who is just full of himself!

I've always hated the term "Light Side". All I end up hearing is "Lite Side"!

The Good Side is the term used in the movies and it's much better.

There is no such thing as dark side, light side, good side, bad side, yellow side, rainbow side etc

so one cannot be ideally better than the other

    think of a hammer

a hammer can be used to hammer nails into structures to keep them up right

it can then be used to knock that structure down.

Not the dark side. Too greedy and power hungry. They almost always kill their masters. While some of the greatest masterminds in Star Wars have come from the Sith, they are evil. The dark side is evil. Although, I wouldn't want to live by the Old Jedi Order's "no attachments" rule. While they both may have flaws, I don't see how any of you could view the dark side as the best choice.

    I'll say Dark Side.
Force group wise I would say Dark Jedi or Sith.

Just for the reason I would be stronger by using raw emotions.
I am more of an emotional person and I normally use my emotions to push me to the next level.
Unfortunately the downside to that is that very negative emotions can take over.
I'd be willing to take that risk versus work against what is such a large part of me.

I would say "Light" to avoid confrontation but I feel the core of me would agree with "Dark" because they have a clear path of what they want and how to get it. They seem more tactile, more collative and more united to get the goal.

Both have methods that leave ream for improvement, but something about the Dark Side just stands out as being more... powerful by using your emotion and you spirit rather than try to ignore it and be something you may not be able to be.

If you are in control of your own emotion, the Dark Side could be a greater ally than the Light without risk of kidding yourself and falling down a more disturbing path and conflicting yourself.

I'd go with the light side because I don't like injustice. However, if I could choose, I'd prefer the new order under Skywalker.

For me there would be no light side or dark side, there would only be the Force. I would live as a person who wants to do good for the world and try to provide an example for my fellow man. But I would not deny my emotions (that simply isn't healthy), if I were to fall in love, I would enjoy it as much as possible, if I am wronged I reserve the right to avenge. Going too far in either direction just seems to limit a person. Keeping a balance that's the trick. In fact, for me, this would be much more difficult than dedicating yourself to either light or dark. If successful however, the rewards could be great.

Not what the OP asked I suppose, but the answer that came most naturally to me. [face_dunno]
