I looked around on the stickies, and didn't seen anything that immediately screamed "THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT!"

I was wondering if anyone had developed a method for a lightsaber burn mark on something as dynamic as skin. I've seen tutorials on walls (Thank you Kaat) and everyone's seen Ryan and Dorkman get their clothes burned, but I never could track down skin, besides limbs being chopped off, which isn't quiet what I'm going for. I suppose the best results would probably be a combination of CGI and makeup...

Well, my older burnmarks tutorial covers that effect. You can check it out here:

But it's AE 5.5 and the voice acting is pretty cheesy.

    Thank you Kaat!

I'm actually surprised I got a response this quickly. The wonders of time zones... it's 3:25 a.m. here... and I have class today. *sigh*

Unless of course we ARE in the same time zone star wars fanfilmakers simply don't sleep just so they can check the boards...

Kaat's tutorial is very good yes... Except i dont think a burn mark on the skin should glow. It should be black and a very dark red :p
    It's all personal opinion.

HEY VIDINA! I JUST GOT A NEW VT IDEA FOR AURELLIA! :p

I got inspired by this effect from Revenge of the Sith:

So I guess I didn't really pay attention to if only the burned cloths or the burned skin would glow back then. Oh well. Everyone's a critic. :p

Well, I'm located in Europe and it's 1:25 pm at my place right now. And college doesn't start for me until next week. [face_peace]

I'll play around with your method. It's better than my idea for how to accomplish the effect: a blow torch. [face_worried]

And since I don't happen to have a blow torch, I'll just go with your method! [face_peace]

And I could magic marker the place where I get cut to make the whole rotoing process easier. ;)

(I just want to add that this is the first time ever (new to online community, remember?) that I've used *checks name* "emoticons" so I'm having a little too much fun with them) Oh, well.

That blow torch-idea of yours is good as well. I guess that would work pretty well.

I'll try to find a volunteer and cover that method in my next video tutorial. Should be fun.

*edit: Makes me want to play Worms 2 again...

You let me know how that works for you.

You know, I'd volunteer myself, but I don't think my wallet can handle a Transatlantic flight at this time. Ah well, too bad. :p

A basic blowtorch is less than $20 (maybe less than $10) at most hardware stores. The same kind used for lighting cloth on fire in RVD2. That said, be safe.
