Hey, I've looked and looked, and I can't find a tutorial on how to make lightsaber clashing effects with Photoshop (I have Photoshop 7.0) does anyone know where to find one?

Lens flares are generally frowned upon. Not sure what else to use in Photoshop though

EDIT: No need to start 2 threads on the same topic :)

You want the Axion Flare Effects plugin for Photoshop. Google should help you find where to purchase it now that you know it's name. The plugin has the same lens flare that Dorkman took and in made a MOV/AVI for using in Adobe After effects.

Alernatively you could download the lightsaber clash from here and turn it into a .bmp file and use it in photoshop.

Easy way to use lens flare to create a clash in Photoshop without those tacky ring artifacts:
Create a new layer, fill with black
Render a new lens flare in the center of the layer, or as close to it as you can get
Radial blur it to get rid of any flare lines and any minor offcentre-ness
Change the blending mode to screen or linear dodge, and move to correct position
If the edges of the layer are visible, adjust the levels (black) till they disappear
    Adjust colour balance to taste

Not quite the customisation you'd get from Axion, but it's a quick fix.

    Good luck!

Honestly, Dorkman has made an awesome contact flash which I have used in almost all of my tests/videos that require either an ingition, saber-off, or a clash.

You dont have to just plop it in there..change the size, the blend mode, the color maybe? You can do a ton of things with it.

I just draw a football shape over the space where the sabers clash, use Ryan's 3 layer method to make it glow yellow, duplicate it again, and motion blur the new layer horizontally 400 pixels. (In a nutshell)

Forgot to say, it ends up looking pretty much like the clash in my avatar pic, and like the clashes in Episode III.
