What are Mara and Zekk's lightsaber colors at the time of LotF? I can't read Betrayal without knowing their lightsaber colors.

Mara is blue; she carries Anakin's old lightsabre.

Zekk, I have absolutely no idea.

Assuming that Zekk has the same saber he had when he was in the YJK series (and we haven't had any textual information that he's changed it), then it's flame-orange.

    Two things:

    1. What happens to Mara's lightsaber after she dies?

    2. I hope we get more use of different colored lightsabers going forward other than the traditional red, blue and green. And I think they should state more often who has what color. And if they can work in a black lightsaber that would be sweet. Perhaps for the One Sith leader...

    That's all.

I've always pictured Mara with a purple lightsaber...why would she keep using an antique or, more importantly, an important family and jedi heirloom. Wouldn't that be like taking a momento from World War 2 or something and using it again for the nitty gritty kind of work?

    1. I don't think they have said anything about what became of Mara's saber.

    2. The One Sith's leader (Darth Krayt) uses two red lightsabers. And as so far established there is no other leader to the One Sith. White Eyes was only the hand of the One Sith during Alema's visit not the head, Krayt might have been 'napping'.

It was symbolic. Luke gave it to her the way it was handed to him from Obi-wan, a "relic" of another era when Luke's father was a hero. It symbolized her transition from dark to light, too, and served to remind her of this, IMO.

Didn't the Jedi vs. Sith guide say that Luke retired Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber eventually? I don't remember what color lightsaber Mara was using on the Sacrifice cover, as every time I look at that book it makes me wince. I don't think they ever explained what happened to Mara's lightsaber, did they? She tried to kill Jacen, failed, died, and then Luke and Ben got her body back. And while Ben was playing at CSI, there was stray hair, blood, some very precise analysises, which in the end didn't amount to much of anything as Caedus just announced he killed Mara to a secret recorder.

Hopefully Ben'll get the old hand-me-down.

As for using a relic..well, it's a lightsabre. Their basic design hasn't changed in centuries Anakin's sabre was still apparently trustworthy after sitting in a box in an adobe shack for 19 years.

And Samurai frequently passed down their katanas, I think.

What happened to Mara's lightsaber after she died? I don't know but...

Luke may have been projecting the image of Mara's blue lightsaber to Jacen during his first fight with Jaina as a pysch-out. Or, the shift from green to blue to green again was a typo that wasn't caught in editing. I like to think it is the former.

A black lightsaber crystal would have to be opaque, and therefore it would also be a rock.

You can't put a rock in a lightsaber and expect the blade to be any color other than "HURRR".

Seriously, Alema Ra's lightsaber is the one thing that's hacked me off the most about Troy Denning. Even after the travesty of Invincible and LOTF as a whole.

I imagine Zekk's saber to be blue. The whole issue of saber colors has gone un-mentioned since the end of the NJO series. With the progressively PT style to the NJO, and judging by the vast majority of Jedi lightsabers glimpsed in the Legacy comics I'm leaning towards the whole order falling more towards green and blue blades. Jaina and Mara I imagine probably still rock the Windu purple but everyone else I think is likely gone traditional.

Important note: Mara's using Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber on the cover of Sacrifice, but I don't think that's any reason to believe she used it IN Sacrifice's story. It's like Caedus having a Sith blade on the cover of Revelation yet not once did he draw a lightsaber in that novel. In fact, I'm not sure it was even completed at that point.

Didn't Caedus draw his lightsaber when he rescued Tahiri?.... can't personally remember...

anyway yeah Mara has a blue blade, Zekk has an orange.

I always preferred the different blade colors the NJO have, and I'm really hoping as we see more Jedi in Legacy we'll see this is still the case (A Jedi on the cover of 26 has a purple blade and Azlyn Rae had an orange one so I have hope)

as for a black lightsaber..... you can't have black light..... I know technically the physics of Star Wars is a bit out there anyway, but thats pushing it past the point of belief. Don't expect to ever see a black lightsaber....

I would personally be happy to keep it to yellow, orange, red, green, blue, indigo and violet lightsabers. Oh ok add the silver lightsabers just for coolness factor.

Actually indigo is one I don't think we've seen... but anyway.... whenever I picture these lightsabers I narrow them down to those colors...... as far as I'm concerned emerald is just green, flame-orange is just orange etc.

What do you mean? Sorry but I haven't even finished betrayal yet. What color lightsaber does Alema have?

If I remember right, Denning described it as "so blue it was nearly black." But I can't imagine a crystal that dark could be clear enough to work as a focus for the blade.

Anyway, I'm in the camp that prefers more variety in lightsaber blade colors. Blue, green, red, purple, orange, yellow, silver, bronze, turquoise, it's all good IMO, as long as it's a color that could actually work (i.e. no black lightsabers).

I just took Alema's lightsaber as dark blue....

you'll remember that even in the movies, the actual shades of the lightsabers appear to fluctuate... (Anakin's at times looks deep blue, and others a light cyan (or in the case of my copy of ANH DVD a turquoise during the remote training scene... which is just bizarre)

so I think there are just the basic colors, and they can change shades depending on whatever physics is happening within the hilt at the time (I don't know come up with some explanation).... so Alema's lightsaber is blue.

For that matter from memory isn't that quote about the lightsaber so dark it was almost black was during one of her Phantoms?... that could explain the darkness too.

I think dark blue is a pretty cool lightsabre colour, why not, if you saw light sjining through lets say a dark blue glass it would also be dark blue.

No Alema's lightsaber is routinely described as being so blue it's almost black. Dark Nest when she joins Gorog is when she built it.

I'm more of a lightsaber color traditionalist. The entire TPM timeframe where various Jedi had various color blades has been retconned apparently. I'm down with purple and yellow, but I think blue and green should be the standard for the Jedi Order. I think we'll see that in Legacy primarily because of the need to keep a certain uniformity for the sake of keeping the lines clear. Azlyn Rae is an Imperial Knight and one can only imagine that when she's acting openly in the capacity as an IK she's got the standard hilt and silverish blade of the IKs. Her orange/yellow saber is either he old saber, or one she used in a covert capacity to keep her status as an IK under wraps.

Why do green and blue have to be the standard colors of the Jedi Order anyway? We know that yellow was the color associated with Sentinels in the Old Republic, but then yellow never appears in TPM era, at least, on the screen it doesn't.

I'm all for the multi-colored lightsabers. It shows diversity! Jedi aren't supposed to be uniform, like the IKs

I don't understand why a black lightsaber can't work and why you wouldn't want it. It's a crystal that is black (not a rock) and the light pushes through it to create a white light surrounded by a black aura.

That's probably why Alema has a saber so blue it is almost black because you guys complained so they didn't give her a black one... the dark blue was as close as they wanted to go.
It's SW... I don't read it for the realism.

IIRC during the PT most lightsaber crystals came from the planet Ilum and the majority of colors from there were green and blue.

Apart from the fact that a "black lightsaber" would look somewhat stupid and illogical, there is no such thing as black light. Black is the absence of light. This would mean that your black lightsaber blade would not be giving off light, nor would it be allowing light to simply pass through it (invisible blade). That means it's absorbing light, and thus it probably isn't even operating under the same mechanics of a regular lightsaber. In fact, rather than burning through objects, such a weapon might freeze what it hits, drawing in energy from it's target.

Which might be a cool weapon to look into...but not a lightsaber.

As for the other colors, blue, green, red, rellow, orange, purple, and some slight variations on them are fine. White (aka "silver") blades are very cool, too.

In fact, put in Revenge of the Sith, go to one of the lightsaber duels, and turn the color on your television off. It's really cool.
