Luke's saber in ANH did indeed have wiper blades on them. Wiper blades from a German tank I believe.

That?s right they used a tank or old military vehicle that had only a basic rubber wiper, as apposed to the new wipers of the 21st century (metal/plastic/rubber combo.).

Are you trying to follow a design for your next saber or is it custom?
If it?s replica, the saber shop?s Darth Vader/ Anakin/ Luke style grips are good.[face_dancing]
If it?s a custom job, a personal saber that is, then you could always research the way swords are gripped (leather, cloth, etc.) a grip can be made of anything as long as you like it, and it helps you grip the saber:-B
    (grips to grip, duh=P~ ).

well, only if you are doing a Luke ESB version. if you buy any grips from blast-tech or the saber shop they all come with that 3M glue on the back.

then i'd say just go to a Home Depot or something similar and just try to find somehting you think looks cool and interesting. like wiper blades or t-track or weather striping or something.

Newest research kind of scrapped the "tank windshield wiper"-theory.
The grips seem to be metal profiles from 60ies or 70ies furniture, i.e. drawers etc.

just try to get a set from ebay, saves you a lot of work, if you are going for your own design anyway

Exactly, they are looking at T-Track, plastic and metal.

People have the tank wipers and they are not what Luke has at all. Sorry guys.
