Lightsaber hilts in general: q's, a's and critiques

It seems that many people are looking for answers to questions about lightsaber hilts. Somtimes they post them on Jedi-Loreen's el thread, somtimes on the your lightsaber thread, and somtimes start their own threads to get critiques. But the el thread is more for discussing blades and the electronics and hardware directly associated with them, and the your lightsaber thread is more for showing your own finished saber. This thread is to make things more centeralised. Here you can ask hardware hilt questions whether it be hardware, machined, or whatever, and post pics to get critiques from builders and masters.

I've got a question about painting a chrome sink pipe hilt. Wondering if anyone knows how to get a good metallic, colored effect, like they get at Advanced-Light Weaponry (google it for the link). I was thinking of using some car touch up paint with the metallic finishes, since they are easily available and come in lots of colors. Has anyone else tried this?

Ive heard windshield wipers make good grips... Any certain kind?

I have found normal windshield wiper blades to be a little small, and if you use the plastic track like Big Yellow Box recommends, it can be very uncomfortable for dueling, if it is going to be a dueling saber, though it otherwise looks fine. Blast-tech grips are pretty good, though they run for about $10 a set... very much more comfortable to use, though.

 

We really do have enough lightsabre threads already, which amply cover the topics listed in your first post.

It's a nice idea, but is just going to get lost in the already long list. Thanks for understanding.
