Ok, so first off, I am going to do red neon underneath my car. Easy.

My hard part/ project is, when I hit lock/ unlock on my remote, I want to have the light saber power on/ power off sound effect. Something to that effect. Even being able to control my red neons via remote...but the important thing; I need the sound at least when I turn them on. I dont need the idle sound effect, just the power up and down.

I had considered buying a spare FX lightsaber and taking the speaker components, but it would be barely audible if you werent 2 inches from my car.

    Anyone have any ideas??

I am going to also have a "saber rack" on my rear parcel shelf, custom grey and black leather (with Galactic Empire logos stitched). I already have my license plate; S1THLRD.

I need some input. I might forget to check back here, so if you think of a really good idea, email me at russr@jonesjunction.com

    Thanks!!

Before you start doing anything like that to your vehicle, I would check in with local law enforcement to see if that sort of thing is allowed. There are some municipalities to do not allow any kind of neon lighting on vehicles, and there are some that restrict it to colors that aren't associated with emergency colors (red, blue, amber).

As far as your sounds and lights... I think you would have to link an external amplifier and speaker system to the sound source. If you are wanting to have these lights and sounds go off when you hit your car alarm button, then everything would need to be hardwired together. Sorry that I am not more specific than that. I wouldn't know how to pull it off. I know how it would, or could go together in theory. Actual application is a different story altogether.

The point of this post was really the first paragraph. Good luck with your project.

From what I hear, most likely the neon lights are fine when you are parked regardless of color or where you live. I'm sure there are exceptions to that rule but when parked, you should be ok. It's having them on while driving that you may be breaking the law. Where I live, you cannot have them on while driving. Not sure about color restrictions here.

You may be able to find a car stereo/alarm installing business in your area that can do all of this for you. Sounds like a cool project. Please let us know how it works out.

Yeah, neon is illegal while in motion. My idea is for shows, or just for cool effect.

I was an auto tech for about 10 years (recently moving to the sales side) and I've "majored" in electronics in the automotive feild. I have the know how to put it all together, I'm just wondering how to implement the sound...where to get the sound from, what to use as the source, and how to amplify it to an audible volume. What I'd like to try is take a MR ForceFX light saber (although, the sound I REALLY want is the secret apprentice sound {force unleashed - ...the fast power up}. But at this point, a normal power up works.

So, does anyone have a Force FX saber I can have to experiment with? I wouldn't dare molest my prized possession.

Another project I'm going to do (I guess you'd have to be interested with the 07+ Camry)..in front of the shifter is a lid that opens to allow access to a cubby. On that lid door, I want to replicate the light panel on Darth Vaders chest. That should be pretty easy with some colored lighting and flat panel switches.

The whole idea for my project is 'What Darth Vaders Camry would look like.' I'm definitely open to some ideas...

You should not need a sound board from ANY saber. You should be able to find a device, such as a car alarm that allows custom importable sounds (assuming those exist) in the form of a WAV or MP3 file. If not, I'm sure there are already devices out there for automobiles that can do want you want.

There is a very fast saber ignition sound already out there. I have it. If you want it, please let me know. It sounds "meaner" than the standard, slower ignition sound.

better solution is get mp3 clips of those sounds, and run it through a mp3 player jacked into the cars stereo system. have that stereo system then play the sounds through cars speakers, or a under hood PA speaker. i used to run a 8 inch PA speaker on my old CB setup and it could be heard from quite a distance.

I have the fast saber sound; you are talking about the secret apprentice from Force Unleashed...

    ...I love that sound.

My Camry does have a port for an MP3 player, but that does me no good unless the car is turned on.

I'll see what I can figure out.

Actually I was referring to a sound that has been around for some years now. There are many lightsaber sounds floating around the net including quite a few different saber ignition sounds. Various people have been ripping the sounds from every Star Wars game out there and compiling them into ZIP and RAR files over the years.

I have yet to hear any sounds from "The Force Unleashed" (other than what has been in the game trailers).

Just used TFU as an example..

BTW, new trailer for Force Unleashed...www.starwars.com go to videos then I think its the first one to come up. Awesome.

I haven't found much yet for a programable siren yet...thats going to be my biggest hang up. If/ When I do find one, do you think lightsabers clashing would be a cool sound for if the alarm is triggered?

I think blaster sounds would be more appropriate. :D
Nothing says "back away from my vehicle" like some heavy blaster fire to scare the crap out of someone messing with your ride!

But that is just me... ok so it doesn't jive with the Sith Lord thing. Maybe you could incorporate a series of sounds; blaster fire, a lightsaber ignition, Vader's breathing and then a voice message from Vader telling someone to step away from the car???

    Yeah, I think big...
