Literature project - Jedi Knights and their lightsabers...list 'em all!

Here is a daunting task I have for all EU fans to accomplish...

In Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones we will be seeing lots of Jedi Knights. Some of them in battle. From all of the released spy reports, smuggled pictures, official Insider and Star Wars.com photos, it appears that all of the Jedi in a large battle all use green and blue lightsabers ( aside from Mace Windu who uses purple, and Count Dooku, who uses red. )

Certain Movie Purists have called the Expanded Universe on this, claiming that continuity is broken, and that the EU is completely wrong for not only showing the Jedi Council with different colored blades during the timeframe of The Phantom Menace, set ten years earlier...but also any EU character who uses a lightsaber that is not green or blue. To these people, anything like purple, white, yellow or violet completely goes against the movies.

I have stood by my claim that only a small percentage of Jedi Knights, in all of the eras, use colors besides blue or green. ( In fact, Mace Windu would seem to help my theory. )

So...in this thread, the main task is to list every single Jedi Knight in the Expanded Universe sources, and say which lightsaber color they have.

A guideline for the types we must list...

Main characters - such as Luke, Leia, Kyle Katarn, Corran Horn, Plo Koon

Background characters - Characters that are not named, but we see. Such as any Jedi in large battles that we have a clear view of, and can see what color of lightsaber they use. Sources such as Tales of the Jedi, with large battles, may show this.

If a Jedi character in a story has a lightsaber, but the color is not described, list him/her/it anyway.

If a character has different lightsabers, list both. ( i.e. Leia with blue and red. )

Once we have listed every Jedi, which shouldn't take terribly long with the resources available to all fans of Lit, then we can calculate all of the numbers and create a percentage. Also, remember to post the sources after each listing.

I believe you are referring to Gantoris in the Jedi Academy Trilogy.

 

Maybe instead of doing this by random, we should go book by book, comic by comic, game by game until we're all done? That way we don't keep posting the same Jedi.

you missed Keiran Halcyon, who also has a silver blade. He is seen in a hologram from the Jedi Holocron during I,Jedi.

Just went through the Jedi Knight cutscenes/sabre battles and Mysteries of the Sith to verify the colors...

Kyle Katarn: Green in JK, Orange in MOTS
Mara Jade: Purple
Yun: Yellow, used later by Kyle
Gorc: Orange
Pic: Orange
Maw: Red
Sariss: Blue
Boc: Two Purple
Jerec: Red

Note that while both Maw and Jerec used red blades, in JK there are two seperate versions of red available. Maw's red sabre had a thinner white core tinged with orange, while Jerec's red sabre had a thicker white core without any orange coloring. However both sabres had a predominantly red outer glow of the same hue, that was distinctly different than the pure orange sabres used by Gorc and Pic.

 

I think the source of the info should be listed as well. (i.e. book,movie,comic reference).

It could be expanded to list the literature appearances of each Jedi and blade color in that appearance.

I think a list of everyone with a lightsaber would be good. There are plenty of Dark Jedi, Sith, etc. out there too.

 

There's no way this is complete. We're only halfway done, at least. Still need every Jedi from the RPG books and ones that aren't named, but seen. Plus, we do need to list sources. Some of those names I don't recognize.

 

So if they aren't named, how to list them.

The lightsaber colors are all that matters. By going through the comics, I can take count of what colors are used for unnamed Jedi.

 

Here are some colors from a few Dark Horse TPBs. Note that the colors are sometimes indistinct due to environmental "mood lighting" as in the Dark Empire series, and a few times the colors are completely different from one source to another.

Obviously even between the same story arcs those responsible for the panel coloring were not very consistent. In the case of the Thrawn trilogy, the colors described in the novels should take precedence. Dark Empire used alot of environmental lighting rather than local colors as they would actually appear, thus the predominance of the blue sabres for just about every character.

Just to clarify a few things:

Plo Koon (In Jedi Power Battles and other EU): Yellow
-(All throughout Episode II): Blue (Confirmed).

Ki-Adi Mundi: (In Jedi Power Battles and other EU): Purple
-(All throughout Episode II): Either green or blue, there is an official picture with him holding a blue one, but now rumors say that it was changed to green for continuity purposes in the movie.

Eeth Koth: Blue (Originally purple, but he and Mace exchanged lightsabers, so he gave the Mace-ster his violet blade).

Saesee Tiin: Blue

Kit Fisto: Green
