I do that's for sure, there's some radar that shows a cave in the lake where it's "Nessie's lair" and some people made conclusions that there was some sort of underwater tunnel from the lake to one in Canada where canadians spotted a creature just like that in the lake and dubbed it "Ogopogo". So who believes in it?

    I don't.

Still, I wouldn't like to go swimming there at night.

It'd be just my luck to be the one who proves its existence by getting ripped into pieces by it.

    ;)

No, seriously: it's just a myth. But that's the cool thing about it; it should remain a myth forever, because myths serve a purpose in our existence.

I think there are animals on the Earth that we haven't found yet, or been able to catagorize..... Nessie being no exception...

I think the classic photos that you see of The Loch Ness Monster are hoaxes, but that doesn't mean there isn't something there.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least to find out that there are large, reclusive animals under the water that elude discovery...

    Fun stuff.... :)

That scroll could use a little more trimming, RSL.

As for nessie, aye matie. I've seen 'er with my own two eyyyyyyeeeees! The great beast appeared before me one night while I was wooing a lady friend on me boat in the loch! I was just about to slip her the<following few lines edited for content> when it's enormous head burst out of the water with a deafening roar! Aye, it was a ghastly sight! I nearly <edited for content> my pants, and I know my lass did. Then it spoke to me and said... <story drones on for a good 8 or 9 pages>

The Scottish Tourist Board is certainly very happy for the myth to continue ;)

Yeah it's gotta stay a myth, otherwise nobody would care and it'd be just another animal.

In 1938, a prehistorical fish long believed to be extinct was discovered off the coast of Africa.

The Coalacanth. (See this bit, for example, but there are tons of others on the Net). I saw the creature for myself while I was in New York, at the Museum of Natural History. Everyobdy walked past it, not knowing what a great little story this is.

Ah hell, who am I kidding. This is the JC, people don't read more than one paragraph anyway.

I do not believe in the Loch Ness Monster. The tooth fairy killed her a long time ago.

There's this site that has cameras on 247 where you can take a snap shot of the lake if you see the creature.

    http://www.lochness.co.uk/livecam/index.html

Check it out, every time the screen flashes is the next few seconds I believe.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility. It's fun to think about.

I find most myths are based in some sort of reality, just as most fiction is based in some reality. What's reality and what's myth? Who can know? I personally don't care. Myth makes the world a more exotic place.

I just think it probably died about 60 million years ago. ;)

Well, I'm Scottish, and living in Scotland, and I don't give the old beast a second thought. She comes round for tea sometimes, but always gets p*ss faced drunk and staggers back to the loch :p

Seriously, Big Foot and Nessis are all myths (as was stated before). There may be some truth to them... hell, they may be exactly like we imagine them, but I doubt we'll ever know for sure.

I believe in the Loch Ness Monster. And Bigfoot. And the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. They're part of a world conspiracy that first will make us think such things are only myth, then will attack with unbridled fury unparalled by any military force in history.

    :p

Honestly, I don't believe in it, but it makes for fun myth.....or is it myth?? :D

Its possible. I've seen several strange things in my travels of the US. One time, on a hike in the woods behind my former home, I saw a rabbit about four feet in length, snow white, with sharp teeth, and red eyes. Scared the hell out of me, and made a sound I would not want to hear twice in my life.

Too bad I was alone without a camera, or a gun for that matter.
