    Characters: Eowyn/Faramir

    The peoples of Middle-Earth could breathe again, in the cleansed air after the vanquishment of Sauron. It was as if the literal woodland glades and rivers started to heal and recover. Eowyn found her own sense of serenity in the unexpected love with Faramir. His joy of her soothed and filled spaces she never knew were vacant before.

    He proposed to her in the gardens near the Houses of Healing where their friendship grew and strengthened. She told him she was expecting their first child in a garden very similar, with pink and pale rose blossoms scenting the air amongst the vibrant green grass.

    Their growing family frolicked in such a lovely garden in sweetly verdant Ithilien.

    Eowyn still had the strength of a shield-maiden, still loved the wide-ranging freedom of riding the fields of Rohan. But what she came to love the most was the quiet sunrises and sunsets enfolded in the love of her family.

    Little bit of goosebumps on this one, Nyota. Very well done. The peaceful setting and healing of Eowyn, the land, and people come through loud and clear! =D=

    What a beautiful piece. I really get a very vivid sense of the beauty and tranquility of the garden. I also very much feel the passage of time with the major events in the relationship from the proposal to the pregnancy to the growing family all unfolding in the garden. Nice and subtle job with this story.

    What a sweet vignette! I knew “garden” would be a perfect prompt for you. :D They’re such places of peace, tranquility, and love—perfect emblems both for Middle Earth’s newfound peace and for the love between Éowyn and Faramir, which grew out of that peace. What better place for their family to grow! Beautiful work, as always, and thanks so much for being part of this challenge! =D=

    Eowyn/Faramir are one of the most fascinating pairings in LOTR, besides Beren/Luthien, Arwen/Aragorn and Celeborn/Galadriel [face_love]

    I just love Eowyn and Faramir, and have always liked the idea that they ended up together. [face_love]
    This short story is so sweet and inspiring... Just how the mettle of Eowyn is something intrinsic to her, no matter whether she's fighting in a war or raising her children.
    A well-deserved happy ever after with Faramir.
    I really like your piece, it's very beautiful.

    You have to know how delighted I was to read this piece! All throughout, I appreciated how intrensic a feeling of peace and healing pervaded above all else. For Éowyn, her desire to war was always tied into loss and helplessness. But that same strength of spirit is now no less tepid for her knowing peace. Instead, she's now just truly happy and allowing herself to embrace that happiness with her love and their family.

    Beautiful, beautiful answer to the prompt! I enjoyed every word. [face_love]

    Nice to see a happy ending to the Middle Earth saga, and admittedly there were a few places that looked like they would be quite nice if one had the time and security to enjoy them.

    This was good, particularly once your shield-maiden formed a family that could enjoy the gardens, and we could see her feelings about sunrises and her previous travels.
