Lou, KY Louisville Bats Star Wars Night 2023

Saturday June 17 is this year's Bats Star Wars night. The core group has our tickets but if anyone wants to join us we're in section 121, Row R. Looking back through the old threads this section sits in the shade with a good view of the field and bathrooms right behind us as a bonus. It's still a ways off, hoping nothing derails us this time.

 

Great seeing everyone at the Bats game. Seats were good and in the shade but at the edge of the overhang so we would have been in trouble if it rained (maybe next time a few row back?). We were right behind the Bats dugout which was cool except when they would throw balls into the crowd after the inning (when did that become a thing?).
As far as it being Star Wars Night went it was very disappointing. They had some characters (volunteers from the 501st, Rebel legion and Mando Mercs) helping with the first pitch and wandering the concourse but they didn't have the on screen graphics, movie clips or trivia like they've had in the past. They didn't even play SW music until the 3rd and 4th innings and that was it for the rest of the game. The bats players had Star Wars themed jerseys but they were based on the classic stormtroopers so from a distance they just looked like white tops. "The Amazing Tyler" (okay he was good Tyler's Amazing Balancing Act - Tylers Amazing Balancing Act (amazingtyler.com) ) got more attention and game/field time than anything Star Wars. Kids under 14 got a "lazer sword" and they did play Star Wars music with the end of game fireworks (not synced to the music though) but otherwise it was a disappointing effort compared to the past. I feel a Bats game would be a nice get together for us in the future but we wouldn't have to fight to make it on "Star Wars" night.
