What's everyone's favorite Irish music group? I'm partial to U2 (can't tolerate their politics, though) and the Clancy Brothers. Oh, and Enya. Yes, I have avried tastes. :p

    I'm Irish as well.

I'm at least a quarter Irish. In New Mexico, there is heavy discrimination against Irish Catholics. They're the only minority without a special studies group.

If you had the luck of the Irish, you'd wish you was English instead.

    The Corrs.

Speaking of which, they have a special on VH1 tonight at 9 eastern. Bono does some cover songs with them, as does Ron Wood from the Rolling Stones

Top o the morning to you. Even though it's almost evening here. Either way. I'm partial to the Dubliners and the Irish Rovers. Classic stuff.

    Amazing.

Amazing, I thought the line was:

"Get to heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead."

There are several variations. I took mine from the introduction to an Irish Rovers song.

    Amazing.

Let me tell you a joke....

Once there were two fellows that started a conversation in New York....

"Hi matey! I'm Irish!" the first one said. "I'm Irish too!" exclaimed the second one. "What city are you from?" asked the second one. "Dublin!" replied the first one heartily. "I'm from Dublin too!" the man exclaimed. "What school did you go to?" "St. Mary's, class of '56." "I was in St. Mary's class of '56 too!" exclaimed the second man. "What street did you live on?" "*5420 Patty's Street." "I lived there too!"

Then a neighbour who overheard said, "The O'Malley twins are drunk again."

Don't let the English see this. They get upset that we celebrate an Irish holiday.

Which just cracks my ass up! :D

That was a funny joke. I hadn't heard that. In response I'll recycle a joke I told a couple a years ago, but I don't see anyone I know around, so screw it.

An Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman all walk into a pub. Three fat flies come in the door with them. The men all sit at the bar and each orders a pint of stout.
As the Englishman goes to drink his stout he's seen one of the flies has flown into his drink. He demands the bartender take it back and get him another.
Meanwhile, another fly has dropped into the Scotsman stout. He frowns, flicks the fly out of his drink, then gulps down.
The last fly, however, has dropped down into the Irishman's stout. The celt sees this and becomes enraged. He swoops down upon the fly and holds it in a vice grip.
"Spit it out, ya b@stard, spit it out!"

    Bu-dum-dum.

Me mum told me that one. She was cookin' beer, she was. Then she died.

(Ever notice most Irish stories end with "then he died". Danny boy always dies. Nodody talks about the deep spiritual connection of the Irish and death. Nooo, so much cooler to talk about the Egyptians and the Mayans. All we are to them are drunk boxers and funny old men that live in pubs! But the Irish are deep man! Just think about once you've had a few drinks. It all makes sense.)

I wonder if J.R.R. Tolkien was Irish, he was after a Catholic.

Although I am Protestant I respect the Catholic church very much.
