I could find this thread anywhere so... I love Han and Leia. Let's get that out there. However, I've always wondered if Luke and Leia would have continued on if the whole sibling thing never came up. Leia liked Han, that's for sure, but she must have liked Luke a bit too... I know Han and Leia were meant to be but what if? I wanna know your opinion!!
Maybe, if Han and Leia didn't get to be together alone in ESB. But what she feels for Luke is more like an affection... there's no tension. There's a little attraction sure, but once they've outgrown it, they'll just remain close friends.
I know it's an awful film - But I think it would have been similar to Pearl Harbour. Where both guys like the chick and she likes them both back but cannot choose...until one of them dies and then the choice is made for her! I always thought it was a mistake to make Luke and Leia siblings... I think Han should have died and then Luke and Leia should have hooked up! Oh well... That being said - If Han died we never would have had another hoorah with him in TFA!
What MoonFyre said. Han and Leia have the kind of chemistry that more plausibly turns into romantic involvement. Luke liked Leia more than she would have been able to reciprocate. Theirs was a more "friend zone" kind of relationship.
BenToRen, have you read Splinter of the Mind's Eye? It's not a great book - heck, it's not even a good book - but it does give Luke & Leia some alone time with no Han, and Luke desperately wants something to happen there.
Leia, the cosmopolitan and accomplished Imperial Senator, princess of Alderaan and undercover fighter for the Alliance falling in a love with an innocent / ignorant simpleton / farm boy from the remote backwater world of Tatooine? I'd say that kind of relationship never had a realistic chance.
I don't know why everyone wants to turn everything into Game of Thrones. Some people still want Luke and Leia to be together, and now there are people who want Rey and Ren to be together. Ugh.
Satele, I'm guessing you read it after seeing RotJ? Remember it was published in 78, long before L&L became siblings. At the time, there was nothing "wrong" with it. Well, aside from the fact that it just isn't a very good story.
It's not that I want them together, I just wondered if people thought it would have worked had they not been siblings... and btw, I hate Reylo...
Jedi of Baker Street It wasn't until you mentioned it. Anakin had training and skills that Luke could have only acquired during these three years between ANH and ESB. Leia's reaction at the ANH medal ceremony is probably "You're cute", but that's about it, IMHO.
It was just a joke. I was struck by the similarities in the life experiences of Luke/Leia and Anakin/Padme, that's all. But yeah, I agree Leia was a bit intrigued by Luke, but not much beyond that. Sad of her to use him to make Han jealous actually, that was not nice.
Here to second this - it was meant to be the original sequel to ANH if the first film hadn't taken off as it had.
I could see it but Han and Leia was the best way to go because there constant bickering was hilarious but come on you can't blame Luke for trying its Princess Leia he must of went really sad when he learnt the hottest chick in the galaxy is his sister
