OK, tell me if I'm missing any.

Dev Sibwarra: Luke's very first apprentice, receiving some mild training aboard the Shriwirr (I think that's how you spell it) before being killed by the Ssi-Ruuk.

The Endor Group: I forget their names, but five or six individuals of different species from the Marvel Comics who wanted Luke to teach them while the Alliance was still based on Endor. He refused because after Dev died he didn't think he was good enough yet to teach. Perhaps some of them came back to him later after he founded the Academy.

Gantoris: Luke's first selection when he was actively hunting for apprentices. Died pretty damn soon, flash-fried by Exar.

Streen: Luke's SECOND selection, he survives to this day, a Jedi Master in his own right, earning him the prestigious title of "first Jedi fully trained by Luke Skywalker." He really deserved a spot on the Council.

    Am I missing anyone?

Kam Solusar I consider him Lukes first REAL apprentice. He was the first one that didn't die or leave Luke. There were some others that joined Luke in DE, but I don't remember their names.

And Mara Jade by all accounts could be considered one at the end of TLC, despite the fact she leaves right away.

I don't know if I would count Kam or Mara, since they already had been trained and Luke was basically giving them "lightside refresher courses."

Streen probably wouldn't have wanted to be on the Council anyway, the antisocial old bugger. "The voices!! THE VOICES!!!!"

You can probably count Corran Horn and Brakiss (sp?) also, since they were at the academy before Gantrois and Streen.

Really? I never could get all the way through I, Jedi; didn't really care for it.

Did Luke pick them before Gantoris and Streen, or did they arrive at Yavin first? If it's the latter, then I say Streen still stands as the first one to be fully trained by Luke.

Leia. Let's not forget that before Luke began training Kam he had been training Leia.

Streen wasnt really fully trained by Luke before Yavin. He and gantoris Barely had any training at all. SO I would count all of the first fourteen or fifteen in the Jedi Academy trilogy as his first students.

What happened to Ken? From the upcoming New Essential Chronology: Ken was eventually eaten by a swamp monster, and everyone in the GFFA pretended that awkard part of their history never happened.

I know. But of those JAT students, Streen was the first recruit to survive, so technically, he's the first. :)

Remember that he agreed to train a dude named Kiro or something in the cartoons. A water breather, but I don't remember where he came from. Think he was having a thing with a Zeltron named Dani or something. This was shortly after the battle of Endor.

yeah but I'm pretty sure that the Zeltron just wanted to date him, from earlier Marvel comics

The leading theory is that he was the unnamed Jedi student killed by Desaan.

Wasn't that theory recently debunked in one of the Dark Forces articles? Plus, I thought the latest leading theory is that he's actually Kenth Hammer?

Speaking of which, one of Lukey-boy's first apprentices would most certainly be Kyle Katarn.

Actually, Luke's 1st apprentice was Leia. The "fish-boy" from the Marvel comics, along with his buddies, were all non-Force sensitives.

    >>"Not to sound like an idiot, but when was this and who's Desaan?"<<

Jedi Outcast. Desann is a Dark Jedi, who went rogue from Luke's academy after some temper trouble.

    >>"Wasn't that theory recently debunked in one of the Dark Forces articles?"<<

Yeppers, it was Havet Storm who bought it.

Does that place Havet Storm as one of the original 12?

However, there were the six trainees from Marvel #92 -- Kiro, Rik, Chihdo, Dracos, Dani, and Barney -- who are then later joined by "Prince" Denin as Luke's disciples. All six were Luke's original apprentices that he was hesitant to train immediately after ROTJ. Luke instructed them in at least some meditation techniques. Key scenes are in issue #100, but there's a few others, as well.

Another possibility would be Barney's friend, Flint, who was Darth Vader's apprentice, and was redeemed when Luke went to stop him. He would actually probably have a high probability of seeking out some light-side instruction from Luke. His latest exploits as a hero can be found in the Essential Guide to Alien Species. His "origin" is in Star Wars Annual #3, and his redemption is in Marvel #92 ("The Dream").

Of all of them, I'd say Flint has a good chance of being there at some point.

From there, Barney would make an excellent candidate. He was a nice guy, and a deserving hero-type. Additionally, Dracos and Kiro were constantly nagging Luke to be trained as Jedi. Rik, Dani and Chihdo were all smugglers. But, it would be interesting if at least one or all ended up becoming Jedi. Dani had a dark side to her during the Nagai invasion due to her ordeals (including what happened with Kiro -- as far as we know, never revealed to her by Luke), which could've been a good trial to overcome.

Another of Luke's original students was Madurrin, an Anx (Horox Ryyder's species), from the Essential Chrono, p. 99. Dan Wallace's own words on the subject:

I'm pretty sure the Anx Jedi student seen in the Essential Chronology illustration has since been named. In one of the Force Heretic books there's an Anx Jedi (Madurrin??) mentioned during one of the fleet battles. I believe the consensus was that this was the EC dude.

    Dan

    Bob the Anx!

Or what about Alex Winger, from Charlene Newcomb and SW Adventure Journal fame...that would be interesting...no one HAS to say she stuck around to finish. Or maybe she did?

    Long shots:

Sunesi Priest-Prince, Agapos IX and Daye Azur-Jamin, both Kathy Tyers creations.

Eelysa, from NJO, might seem one, but upon second thought, isn't -- Eelysa just started with a class of six students during the time period of The New Rebellion. There are direct references in the opening chapters of NR, thus discounting Eelysa from the original twelve.

    Corwin Shelvay and Jessa Dajus?

Dajus is a former Imperial, with dark side temptations (some of which are the results of DarkStryder's influence), who joined a Rebel task force assigned to hunting down Warlord Kentor Sarne in Kathol Sector. Dajus is also a decendant of the same lineage that produced the Jedi Knight, Halbret.

Take a note, though: Dajus might actually have died at the end of the DarkStryder Campaign, but if she didn't, then note that she was a "friend" of Kaiya Adremetrum (sp?). What's significant about Kaiya? She actively recruited members into the Rebel Alliance with Corwin Shelvay (per Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments From The Rim). Hence, it's a small world..."Kaiya" might be the go-between between "two" Jedi hopefuls.

Havet Storm was the young player-character in the UK-only Lost Jedi choose-your-own-adventure series. Only slightly less characterizationally obscure than Stass Allie, Abel gave this very unknown character a noble death in his Dark Forces continuity articles -- standing up to Desann at the Yavin IV academy, resulting in Desann's flight to the Imperial Remnant.
