I need my memory refreshed. Exactly in which book does Luke propose to Mara? How did he do it. I mean, I don't think he did the whole kneeling, presenting a ring, and popping the question thing. And what was Mara's exact response to it?
It was at the end of Vision of the Future. It was after they escaped the hand of Thrawn. I think they were in the Chiss ship, or they had it set down nearby. Over the course of the Duology they bagan to realise their feelings for each other, and at the end they decided they were right foreach other, and Luke proposed to her. I don't remember what her exact responce was, but she obviously said yes
The room that had Thrawn's clone was being flooded, Mara wasn't 'jedi-enough' to hold her breath long enough, so Luke put her in a hibernation trance, and the code to wake her up was asking her to marry him.
No, the code was something else. But I do remember that it was romantic EDIT: Quote from the book: Luke: You know, when we were fighting the sentinels down there, something happened to me. To us. We were so close in the Force that it was like we's become a single person. It was... it was something very special. Mara: Really? how special? Luke: You're not going to make this easy for me, are you? Mara: Oh, come now. When have I ever made anything easy for you? Luke: Not very often. Mara... will you marry me? Mara: You mean if we get out of this alive? Luke: I mean regardless. Mara: Yes. I will. EDIT2: He proposed to her in the clone room when it was fillin up with water.
>>"No, the code was something else. But I do remember that it was romantic"<< I love you Mara, I think.
I've always been left unsatisfied by that proposal. There is nothing there that signals romance or love. To me its kinda bleh.
Well, teh proposal itself wasn't too romantic, but I think the rest of teh book kind of made up for it. Plus what do you expect from Mara?
Luke and Mara aren't really that sappy when it comes to their relationship. It's more of a "right for each other" thing.
I'm right there with ya. I'm the biggest Zahn slappy on the planet, yet I was caught completely off-guard by their mutual profession of love in VotF and to this day I still don't get it. Their being a couple is as baffling to me as NJO actually having fans.
