Anyone watch Series 1 of Luther starring Idris Elba? Was a brilliant show with amazing performances. Everyone should watch it, only 6 episodes.

Series 2 starts on Tuesday, I'm really hyped for it.

    PS: Everton hate not allowed.

What is a "series?" Season, you mean?

At least there's not a random "u" jammed in.

He probably drives to the market, purchases the video, throws it in his boot, and on the way back a lorry runs him off the tarmac and he has to scrape the mud off his windscreen. If he sees any petrol on the ground he has to stop his engine immediately and take a peek under the bonnet to make sure it hasn't sprung a leak.

    Wotcher.

That's inane. What do you call the show as a whole if a season is a series? A series is just that - a series of episodes. The yearly blocks in which new episodes are produced comprise an additional "season." Duh. It couldn't be more simple. Your british television terms defy logic.

    A show.

Yes. A series of episodes in one year. Then there is a break. Then another series of episodes next year. Together they make a whole show.

Summer is a season. Winter is a season. TV shows have series.

The fact that most British shows don't have more than 6 episodes, it doesn't really make a season.
This series of Luther only has 4 episodes.

Well that brings me to another point I don't get about British TV. 4 episodes for a season/series? That's just laughably lazy.

OTOH, think of a world where Two and a Half Men had been four episodes long...

Oh we have a show of similar stature called My Family.
It just ended (is ending) after 10 series.

I wonder if the American use of the term 'season' derives from the fact that they do have so many episodes - so a run can last a full season - Winter, Autumn, whatever.

Yeah, a 24 part series probably would last for an entire season in the year, hence the name.

Most of the shows we have here don't exceed 6 or 8 parts, I don't have a problem with that if the shows are good. I have found that some US TV shows drag on too long because of having to be stretched for 24 episodes. Heroes suffered because of being drawn out over too many episodes, and other series have too.

True Blood has not very many episodes, I like that.

Heroes suffered because they only had good material for one 'season'. What a cracking season it was... but the show should've ended there.

no Heroes sucked, because it sucked....
Season 1 was terrible. Literally nothing happened in an episode. Poor acting. Poor writing. Poor pacing. I gave up 10 episodes in.

THATS HOW TO MAKE AN EVERTON POST GUYS
