Someone mentioned this a while back on the thread about making the Fan Audio Directory page, but I wasn't sure anyone had heard this yet.

You can find the project by going to the "Adventures of Luke Skywalker" link on the Fan Audio Directory.

This one's available right now just as something to purchase, since it's a parody, but for those interested in fan audio, it's interesting.

Basically, they've redone pretty much the entire ANH story, almost entirely with the same dialogue, but they've done it as a 1940s style radio program, including the narration and little sponsorship comments at the opening.

What makes it a parody is that rather than act things straight, the cast of six "recast" the project with impersonations of the voices of famous actors like Humphrey Bogart, Mickey Rooney, Jimmy Stewart, Laurel and Hardy, etc.

It's not really a parody in the traditional sense, nor is it a rendition with the grandeur and spirit of Daley's, but if you have any background in older films and radio productions of the first half of the 20th century, it makes for an interesting sort of "what if," putting Lucas' film story in a period when creating the story as a film, or with the actors of the 1970s, would not have been possible.

Anyone else heard this, or ordering it that might have other thoughts?

I've had this for several years now... some of the "voice parodies" aren't so hot, as not all of the six actors have the range to pull all of them off... however, it's a scream to listen to, as the entire production was recorded live in front of a large convention audience, with all their reactions and laughter intact...

Bela Lugosi as Darth Vader is one of my personal favorites bits... and Jack Benny as Uncle Owen is priceless... the Mickey Rooney/Luke role gets a little annoying...
But the preview of the "next episode" at the end of the recording is almost worth the price of the set alone... I won't spoil that one for anyone, tho... :D
