I was watching ROTS last night and I found myself wondering if there is an official explanation about what happened to Mace Windu's lightsaber after his hand gets chopped of by Anakin and both lightsaber and hand goes out Palpatines window.

And for that sake, what happens to Palpatines saber? It seems to me like it goes out the window too.

    On Wookieepedia it says:

In 18 BBY, a Duros sold a broken lightsaber to Senator Sano Sauro claiming it once belonged to Mace Windu. The Duros said he had found it on a street in the lower levels of Coruscant. Sano would later display the lightsaber in his office.

That's in The Last of the Jedi: Return of the Dark Side apparently. So they're implying it was Mace's saber but it may not be.

    Who cares?

There are plenty of sabers in the EU with nonstandard colors.

Well, it was probably picked up by someone rather quickly and sold.

Interesting question - you could probably write a story about it.

I propably could. I was actually thinking about using it later on in a roleplaying campaign that I am running.

What other colors were there? The only non-standard ones I have seen are purple and yellow.

Orange, Viridian, Silver, Crimson, Pink, Purple, Yellow, Brown, Cyan, Bronze, Black (at least in The Force Unleashed)

And then there were different shades of colors. So there would be dark green, light green, dark red, light red, etc. Star Wars Galaxies alone introduced many of these colors. Corran Horn had a silver blade, the KOTOR games had bronze, orange, yellow, purple, cyan, and viridian. In Dark force II Jerec had a blade that was a darker shade of red than Maw's. Adi Gallia had Crimson in the EU prior to the release of AOTC.

Edit: There's a more extensive list at http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber_crystal

Frankly I'm glad Lucas went only with green, blue, and red (Mace excluded). Seeing a rainbow of colors would be an eye sore.

Thanks for the info! I had no idea there was so many. I'm assuming the Sith always have a variation on red, correct? I wonder how many colors they are going to let people have in The Old Republic game.

To the OP, the lightsabers are a tiny weapon, they could have landed in any little nook or cranny on the streets below, or could have been destroyed on impact. We see Anakin's saber destroyed on Geonosis, so they are not indestructible. Heck, major cities tend to be heavily polluted, but Coruscant, for all of its traffic, is surprisingly clean. The weapons could have been cleaned up and disposed of by the Coruscant sanitation workers.

i THINK MORE ACTORS SHOULD PICK THEIR OWN COLORS.

In the Knights of the Old Republic games you can find/trade for/buy a variety of crystals that would be considered non-standard colors (like those listed above). As one poster mentioned, I personally prefer the limited range that Lucas used for the films. As for Windu's lightsaber, anyone can guess what happened to it. I'd be very surprised if we ever received an official explanation as to its fate.

Timothy Zahn hints in Allegiance that Mace's lightsaber would end up in the hands, a gift from Palpatine no less, of one Mara Jade. Given that collecting lightsabers seems to be a mark of a slain Jedi (witness Knights of the Old Republic and Force Unleashed for examples) it would not be unreasonable to say Palpatine had Windu's lightsaber recovered and presented it to the Emperor's Hand.

I agree, I hated seeing like a whole rainbow of colours, yellows, pinks, blacks, silvers, golds etc. Luckily for me they are only seen in the EU which is not canon (Most of it anyway)

    I totally agree with you.

Blue, Green & Purple for Jedi

    Red for Sith

That is how I run it in my roleplaying campaign.
