I could have sworn there was already a thread for this which I could not find so I posted elsewhere. Oh well. The first minute of that trailer is a mess of sound. But it looks cool. It really sucks that Mel Gibson's personal life just dug too deeply as to make him un-castable. The 3 Mad Max films I think qualify as a successful trilogy. All three films are very good. There were rumors that harding was 'combative' and Theorn and he did not get along and so on. So far he, she ,and the director deny those rumors. I look forward to this.
Like any good hypocrite I will put aside my angst about how Hollywood keeps digging back up every existing property when I see something I like. Me likey what I see. Bring it on.
Also, it is George Miller making it, so it's only a bit Hollywood rehashing stuff. Still, wondering why the trailer has so many American voices in it given it's you know, not set in the US?
For the same reason you heard so many voices in On The Beach? Where else are people going to go after the nuclear holocaust -- you people are the only ones ****-all away enough!
Why? Are you getting strange feelings in your trousers? dp4m, at least a few people should sound like they've had a stroke aka have Australian accents.
Near as I can see it's still set in Australia, and Tom Hardy is almost sort of doing the accent. It was just filmed in Namibia because the area they intended to film here, Broken Hill, was beset by rain which caused the desert to bloom with wildflowers. Hardly apocalyptic...
Are you thinking about my junk, VLM? Same as you were thinking about Tom Hardy's? I honestly admit I didn't see it but I am happy for you.
I'm sure this will be awesome, I dug the first two (still haven't seen Beyond Thunderdome yet, I don't think. Maybe bits and pieces. Hear it's skipable compared to the first 2). Still kinda hoping for Mel Gibson cameo although considering the movie is one long chase scene (which I think is a cool idea for a flick) have no idea how they'd fit him in there.
3's not that bad, it just doesn't hold a candle to 1 and 2. That actual Thunderdome sequence is awesome.
Max seems to take a secondary role to Charlize Theron's character in the trailer. But I guess Theron is an academy award winner and more recognisable than Hardy so giving her air time is understandable. Looks great, back to Mad Max 2 feel.
