Oh come on. I cant be the only one hwo has heard of this. And it's only one Insider away! I didnt see a thread for this at all over at least five pages of Lit, so FoM thought making one would be appropriate. Obviously, the Article is about Mando'ade culture, written by the Lady Mandalore herself! I've heard it also includes a glossary of Mando'a terms, though, hearsay is not the most accurate of intel-gathering methods so dont quote that bit from me butre'yce. So, discuss it I guess.

Er, considering how dp4 had to edit you guys, either stop arguing or stop fooling around :p . Anyways, back on subject. I wonder if Karen will explore the more spiritual side of Mandalorian culture. We know they have a religon, we just don't know how they practice it. Is it a person-by-person thing, ie. each person worships in their own way. Or, do they have an organized hierarchy, with priests and what not. Heres hoping Karen is pulled away from the sw.com boards to come and comment here :D

Just trying to keep him civil. And Dp4m altered my post, which was in response to Fteik's, as "edited into irrelevency" which it was, as it was solely concerned with an unneeded comment Fteik had made. Therefore, comment gone, post in response to comment becomes unneccesary.;)

I think Karen's said that while they are religious, they don't have one organized religion, but instead presumably follow whichever ones suit their individual beliefs.[face_thinking] She's told me that there are no Mando priests (shame, really), although admittedly, she seemed to find my suggestion of what such a class would be like rather amusing.:p

    Mandalorian Chaplain

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

    :p Call me Trip. ;)

They're vague... Traviss seems to be really gung-ho about Mandalorians, and I can't help but be concerned that she'll make them seem overpowered, or override or otherwise clumsily retcon established continuity... I'm also worried that she'll further the "space-viking" cliche that'd be really easy to latch onto with these sort of people...

Plus, I wasn't too enthused with her GGAR article. Although I consider HC one of the best SW books out there.

Basically, my feelings are neutral on this-- I have some worries, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

    ^^

Yup. Definite problems with putting the entire culture of a pretty important element of the EU into the hands of one lady. That is, assuming this will be a long, comprehensive, very detailed article.

I guess all my concerns boil down to Traviss having become something of a self-admitted Mandalorian fangirl...

And we all know how well (read: objectively) fanboys/girls write stories...

Well their history has already been somewhat elaborated on.

I am pretty annoyed with one of her retcons already though. To me, the Last Mandalorian was Jango Fett. Anything that contradicts Jango not being the last "true Mandalorian" before they are revived by Spar is cheap to me.

I'm totally with you there, anything contradicting Jango being the last Mandalorian warrior pisses me off.

But then, Traviss changed the definition of Mandalorian, a bit, didn't she?

If I'm not mistaken, her rationale was that the Mandalorians, as a people, would not have been wiped out at Galidraan because, well, they were back on Concord Dawn. She expanded the definition from an army of mercenary warriors to a whole culture.

Yeah, Jango definitely should've stayed the last Mandalorian warrior, but I agree that there would still me Mandalorians as a race back home on Mandalore, Concord Dawn, and so forth.

Jango's death should've eliminated the last of the warriors, though. I always like Kreia's prophecy.

Thank you for summing up exactly my feelings. Between her 3 million clones, retconning of Jango, and apparent willingess to dismiss sections of the History of the Mandalorian article...

He was the last Mandalorian warrior. The last Mandalorian warrior of the Mandalorian Mercenary Army. Other Mandalorian warriors, such as Commander Janx Ferro of the Mandalorian Defense Forces, would've remained. As well as various mercenaries such as Kal and Wallie-poos, who supposedly didn't gather in large numbers after Galidraan because they were afraid the Jettise stupidity would manifest itself again and they would all die. Again.

EDIT: Between her 3 million clones, retconning of Jango, and apparent willingess to dismiss sections of the History of the Mandalorian article... What parts of the HoM article does she ignore? And ZOMG, THREE MILLYUN CLONEZ?!?!?!?!11!?!!1 U R TEH MINIMALIST1111!!11 I HAET JOO. Get over it already. And how did she retcon Jango, pray-tell? Oh, she made the perfectly logical assumption that a single unit of Mercenaries wouldn't hold every single Mando warrior in the galaxy within it's ranks? Oh noes, someone said an entire race of warriors wouldn't just say "Ah, poo, there goes Jaster and his boys. Well, lets just forget our warrior culture and sit on Mandalore for some insane Jango look-a-like to come in so we can raise a measly force made up of amoral savage mercs and police boys and be the Jedi's whipping boys again." Perish the thought.
