It looks like the skull of Durge's master. Perhaps the Mandalorians liked to hunt Gen'Dai. Check out "Star Wars Visionaries" and you'll know what I'm talking about.

They are a race of warriors and hunters but after the destruction of the homeworld they traveled the galaxy as bounty hunters and mercs.

The "The History of the Mandalorians" article in issue 80 of Star Wars Insider says
The traditional Mandalorian crest, frequently mistaken for a Bantha skull, bears a striking resemblance to the skull of a male mythosaur. But in truth, the symbol was actually adopted in reverence to a legenday Mandalorian combat-training captain.
So now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Boba's the new Mandalore as well. I think Jango was also Mandalore until he died.

Ok, so, did this captain look like a creature of some sort? It really doesn't tell us just what the actual shape is supposed to be; humanoid or creature.

Anyone have a pic of a "mythosaur"?

    BANTHA Scull,
    I don't don't remember where I read it, but it's official.
Also not sure why or what it symbolizes.

Does anyone know if the Mandalorians played a role in the clone wars at all? I remember hearing (old-school EU, like EU before the PT came out) that they were the antagonists against the Old Republic.

Ga! Misconceptions about Mandalore! I must correct this.

The mythosaurs are large, dragonlike creatures driven to extinction by the mysterious Lord Mandalore the First. There are no pictures of them because they have been extinct for millenia.

The symbol is a Bantha skull, however the symbol did not see widespread use until during and after the Mandalorian Civil War, during which the Mandalorian Death Watch and the True Mandalorians arose.

EDIT: The Mandalorians were antagonists of the Republic around 4000 BBY. Mandalore the Indomitable sided with the Sith in the Great Sith Wars. After the defeat of Exar Kun, the Republic engaged the Mandalorians alone and Revan killed Mandalore the Ultimate on Malachor V.

Just rechecked my sources, and it is indeed not a Bantha skull. I apologize for the misinformation.

I guess I misread that. [face_blush] Anyway, everything else I said in my previous post was correct.

My best guess would be that it's a stylized mythosaur skull. No one can verify this, as the mythosaurs were driven to extinction by Mandalore the First.
