I know, simply from the video game, that there is a martial arts style called "teras-kasi" (sp?) in the SW universe... but I'm not sure how one learns the art. Are there other martial arts styles, or is that the only one? If so, is there one that would be as commonplace as, say, a taekwondo or karate class you could get in a shopping center somewhere?

Teras Kasi is not only a martial arts style, but a sort of secret society. It's not a sort of shopping mall karate class sort of thing. I'm sure there are all sorts of martial arts across the vast galaxy. I'd be surprised if most cultures didn't develop martial arts of some sort so far, however, Teras Kasi seems to be the only one we know about.

Teras kasi (translates to 'steel hands') was a common martial art during the time prior to the clone wars, especially for the Bunduki.

Dulon was a jedi martial art in the prequel era, probably not taught to non-jedi.

Echani was the martial art form used by the Imperial Royal Guard, and focused on power over finesse, though it has its roots in the fighting style of the Echani species from the KOTOR era.

Wrruushi and the K'thri Arts were forms used by the Five Masters of the Wookiee Liberation Front in the Clone Wars. Wrruushi was relatively slow-paced, utilizing Wookiee strength for a single strike.

The K'thri Arts were also known in the New Republic time, and focused on speed and fluidity (and tattoos).

The Hapans have their own martial art style known as Hapan Martial Arts.

Jeswandi is a Bothan hand-to-hand martial art.

The k'Jtari had their own ancient style, name unknown.

K'tara was a hand-to-hand style taught to Alliance Special Forces, meant to be quiet and quick.

Petranaki was a ritualistic Geonosian martial art used in arenas. It uses five specific weapons.

shyarn-ado is a Cerean martial art using a shyarn, or scimitar.

Stava is a Noghri style that uses close contact with throws and tackles.

Tae-Jitsu is blustery martial art from the Old Republic. Considered to be ineffective.

Tal-Gun is an obscure but deadly martial art from Xagobah.

Trispzest is a lightsaber combat style from Skye, combining S'kytri martial arts with lighsabers. Probably limited to flying species like S'kytri.

Verdanaian "Sliding Hands" - unusual, focused on maintaining contact with opponent to anticipate the next move.

Teras Kasi was pretty common during the Galactic Civil War, and K'thri and K'tara were probably also well-known. With the proliferation of blasters, i'd guess that martial arts schools were not something you'd find in every town center, but perhaps among historically-military, exercise-conscious or arms-controlled worlds, places to learn martial arts would be more common.

Echani! . . . But while it made for deeper writing, I didn't necessarily understand the moves Sebatyne and Skywalker were making in Joiner King. Or maybe I was just enjoying a battle scene that was never foretold to you, whose ending was always a surprise and Seb was giggling that her brains was getting reduced.
