I think we have something going in the MCU thread, but for those who have not seen This Is Us on NBC this year, she (Milana Vayntrub) had a small, but great, part on the show and showed a pretty decent range beyond that of her normal comedienne / national TV commercial self. Should be a great casting.
he's available now. perhaps to play her loving pa. or the villain squirrel just saying plus that costume >> inhumans (imax!)
Well, since it was a very long shot for Squirrel Girl to be part of MCU proper and being played by Anna Kendrick, Milana Vayntrub/AT&T spokes person seems like a nice fit with her demeanor in those commercials. I'm a huge fan of This is Us and she does show her range in a dramatic role with portraying her character with likeability and vulnerability. However, in Silicon Valley she plays a character that's the opposite of that.
When Zeb Wells and Skottie Young did the less than favored reality show version of the NW, he essentially substituted Microbe and Debrii for Justice and Firestar. And now they've substituted Squirrel Girl and Mr. Immortal for Nova and Namorita. Much like the live action Defenders is essentially New Avengers repurposed for TV. Is New Warriors going to be Great Lakes Avengers repurposed for TV. It's definitely going to be a comedy. So it sounds like Great Lakes Avengers plus the Reality TV version of NW. I think longtime comics fans going in to this hoping for New Warriors volume 1 are going to be disappointed. But I'm still looking forward to it. Hopefully Dwayne plays the straight man. As the other characters were originally created with comedy in mind, but Dwayne wasn't.
Speedball, eh? How long until we get Pennace? The same channel Cloak and Dagger will be on. Kinda weird to think that Freeform will have more full-series Marvel shows on than ABC, and an equal number in production as Netflix (though Punisher may have changed that?).
Probably none, since Civil War has already happened in the MCU due to Wanda moving Crossbones exploding body near that building.
Well, obviously they can't use Speedball to cause Civil War anymore but they can certainly shift the "causes tragic loss of life and becomes Penance" arc to an original scenario- even if it doesn't cause a "crossover"-level ripple on the MCU .
It's weird since this has 10 episodes already confirmed, that the tv show will have more Microbe appearances than the comics ever had. Talk about a blank slate.
I'm a huge fan of Dan Slott's Great Lakes Avengers mini (where the Mr. Immortal and Squirrel Girl pairing I believe came from) and if they just call it "New Warriors" but basically just do GLA where Immortal is constantly dying and Squirrel Girl is overcoming impossible odds because she's Squirrel Girl, I'm totally okay.
And by the end of season 3, they can show how it was really Squirrel Girl that defeated Thanos in Avengers 4.
Obviously the reason Thanos hasn't attacked Earth directly yet, and sends Loki to do his dirty work is because he's scared of Doreen.
I'm kinda hoping that'll be part of the post credit scenes in Avengers 4. Is it going to happen, no, but then who'd have thought we'd finally get to see Squirrel Girl!!!!
Maybe in the future Freeform will have a 2 hour block Marvel night. But if Cloak and Dagger is an hour drama. And the New Warriors is a half hour comedy. I can't think of any Marvel show that could fill the last half hour.
