    Hello everyone!

I am looking for the closest I can get to a real lightsaber.

My problem with the older 5 MR Force FX lightsabers is the scale of the hilt. These all seem considerably oversized. These also have a 6-battery compartment, whuch does explain some of it though.

From what I hear, the new ROTS Anakin and TESB Vader lightsabers are the best. These both have hilts that are almost identical in scale with the MR Limited Editions. Like it says on MR website; "New design is closer in look and feel to the size of a real lightsaber", this seems to be true from what I have heard. The color is stronger and the sounds are louder on both of these. These use only 3 batteries as well.

Would anyone be able to post some photos of all the Master Replicas Force FX Lightsabers (including the newer ROTS Anakin and TESB Vader lightsabers)?
I still have not found any photos showing the entire lightsabers!

I would be very happy if anyone could help.

    Regards, Master Vegarus

I have the Vader Ep5 and it's decently sized. The hilt is a tad too thick, but not too bad. If ya have big hands, you'll be fine with it. I haven't purchesed the Anakin Ep3 just yet so I can't really speak for that one. But for pictures and a short vid, you can go to firebox.com (I believe thats the site) for some of those. Another thread on here or the Collecting board has a vid of two guys dueling with these things. But if your looking for a realistic saber and can't spring the money for a Park's, your best best is a Force FX.

I own both the new Vader (Ep5) and Anakin (Ep3) FX sabers, and they are both just awesome. I got the Vader just before C3, and except for a problem with the battery unit (replaced by the manager at the MR booth in the Dealer's Room, and it works fine now - MAJOR props to Mr. Barry Jones and MR for excellent customer service!!), I thought it was even better than my older Ep4 Vader, which I had thought was the greatest thing since sliced bread. The Anakin saber showed up yesterday, *6 WEEKS* after ordering from an MR reseller on Ebay (and 5 1/2 weeks after they were available in stores!), and it's even better than the Vader saber - the blue LEDs are incredibly bright, but the diffuser in the tube is very good, there are almost no bright or dim spots at all. I had been thinking to use my older Luke ROTJ FX saber for pics of my Jedi costume for Rebel Legion admission, but now, I'm definitely using the Anakin saber.

Battery life in the new sabers is less than in the older LED sabers, naturally, but as long as you keep that in mind, I highly recommend either of the new FX sabers. I don't think you'll be disappointed! Now, if they'd only come out with a green-bladed saber with the new LED circuits (maybe Qui-Gonn?)... :)

    Thanks for the comments.

Firebox.com only has pictures and videos of the ANH Vader and TESB Luke lightsabers. I still have not found any quality photos anywhere showing the entire ROTS Anakin and TESB Vader lightsabers ignited.

The low quality pictures I have seen, seem to be showing what I have feared - the lightsabers will not be ignited to the end of the blade. There is little or no color on the end of the blade.

I think this especially concerns the first 5 lightsabers. What I am wondering about is whether or not this concerns the new lightsabers from MR as well, or if it is fixed as part of the new design.

    Regards, Master Vegarus

The LED's end then they cap off the tube with a half sphere. You will not find one lit to the very end I believe.

Considering these things retail around $100-$120, you could not ask for a better "working" lightsaber. Especially the newest releases. The sound is crisp and clear, the weight is considerably less thanks to the better design and use of less batteries, and the overall look/design is so very close to the movies. You really cannot get better for the cost.

Although one of these days I really wanna try dueling with a Parks saber. Too bad no sound yet. :(

::I am not in any way advocating or recommending staging mock duels with any lightsaber replica of any kind, in any way::

The nice thing about the MR sabers...you can seriously BASH THE HELL OUTTA THEM! All night long at the premiere, my friends and I - along with many other fans - were having duels in the center court of the mall in front of the theater. I swear to you, my Vader and Mace took some major hits. We were really going at it. My Vader still works well, but my Mace unfortantely suffered some damages in the blade. I dunno how they make these things, but there are many spots along the blade where the light has died out. Kinda funny lookin.

Yea...I spent over $200 for these things. And I worked them over pretty good.
    Do I regret it?

Not no way, no how. :)

you know what?the hilt may be slightly bigger but it really doesnt make that much of a difference...i think that these are definitely worth the investment and the above post convinced me to buy one.it's true this is the closest to a lightsaber you can get.

The spots that are out are because the blade is made out of a string of LEDs and you apparently broke a couple of them. I've seen happen a lot, especially at C3.

Master Replicas are cool looking but can't take near the abuse of a Parks Saber. Parks Sabers are nearly unbreakable. Either way though if you go too hard you can mess up the way they light up. Parks are fun to duel with and wouldn't duel with anything else short of the Carbon Fiber ones they used on Ep. III.

Actually saw a pic from the EpIII practices where, if I understood it right, Ewan and Hayden actually shattered one of the carbon fiber blades...and Ewan took a pretty good hit from it.. But I know what you mean.. I only fight with the Parks blades...and my partner and I do heavy combat...We were the Group that did the fighting routine for the Cabaret at CIII..and weren't at our fastest or hitting our strongest cause of everything on stage that was completely unplanned.. i.e. Warrick still being there for one! :) But Parks Blades are definitely the safest for fighting.

I'm considering getting the Vader one soon too. :p

Real paiseh (embaressed) the previous Sun when I attended the LFL (Singapore) ROTS Screening; everyone got FX lightsabre while me using the Hasbro Maul one. :(

I ordered my anakin saber off ebay and should have it tommarrow. Asking about their sabers and knowing the blade is in there pretty well. Im wondering if there is a way to remove the blade and have just the hilt, then I could put it back in even if it means disassembleing the saber itself. The reason is so i could weare it with my anakin costume because it looks good and its cheeper than getting a replica at $375 and up.

I WAS going to buy Anakin's, but then every store in town stopped carrying the MR sabers a week after the film came out.:_| So now I have to save up the money to buy it online which means an extra $40 then what I spent on my Vader due to the shipping.(I got my Vader for $100) But in the mean time, I'm building my own Anakin hilt. I would suggest the same if anyone just wants the handle for a costume. It's better then tearing apart a $100 light up replica.

I have the Anakin Ep.3, 3 battery version....was surprised when I got it as I had heard that the Anakin saber was a huge pain to change batteries that involved taking out triangle shaped screws, etc... went to meet the guy that I was buying it from (I couldn't find them at any stores, sold out...so I found someone local on Ebay with a few of them). So I showed up with 3 AA batteries as he told me on the phone, that's what it took, and my entire screwdriver set, prepared for any shaped screw so I could test it first..... turns out the battery compartment simply screws out of the bottom of the hilt, took 2 seconds, I was very happy....
It truly is an amazing piece, I find myself constantly debating which way I'm gonna to face it on the stand because it's just so beautiful from every angle:D. The light up and down effects are brilliant. When I brought it outside the night that I bought it (it was almost 10 at night when I got it home), a couple of my buddies and my brother were out on the porch a few doors down at a friends place, having some beers, etc, so they were impressionable. From my driveway I turned it on waved it a couple times, then turned it off...it blew their minds... they couldn't see me because it was dark out, all they saw was a bright blue light grow longer out of nowhere, some lightsaber sounds, and with a "whhssspp", the blade shrinks out of existence. Ya, these things are cool...

    Ignited Anakin ROTS Saber Pics

We were doing a fan film shoot a month ago and my friend has one of the Force FX Anakin Sabers, so we swung it around for a bit. The first few pics are with the lights on, and after that the lights are off.

On the subject of the light not going right to the end of the blade....If you're in a lower light room, or outside at night, etc...these things are pretty darn bright...once you turn it on, it's damn near burning out your retina.... you'd be lucky to notice the tip at all, never mind noticing that it's not lit.... it's really not a big deal. On a side note, and hoping this doesn't break any of the rules of the forum (I'm new), has anyone tried the lightech sound module...furthermore, has anyone tried to incorporate it into a Parks saber....the only thing keeping me from buying a Parks saber (or 2, :-B)is the lack of sound...I hope this question doesn't break the rules in regards to the licensed/unlicensed debate...but I really like the Parks sabers but the sound module by lightech almost makes me want one of those, but I don't particularly like the lightech models..they look cheap, with cheesy toggle switches, etc, I can deal with not having a growing/retracting blade, but I have to have sound, it's not legit without the sound, and I'm too old to go "wooomb, waammm, tchhhh" with my mouth[face_not_talking];)

Just a heads up, some locations are having sales for the sabers like at Gamestop:

    http://www.gamestop.com/search.asp?sortby=default&searchtype=quicksearch&searchcount=12&keyword=Lightsaber&platform=0&find.x=0&find.y=0&find=Search

With tax mine came to about $94.00 USD. The price originally on it was $99.99. I bought the Anakin version today. Good sale? hells yeah.

Is that an original blade on your Anakin saber or did you replace it? Maybe it's just the darkness of the room but that thing looks really bright.
