Judging by how this episode ended we aren’t seeing him in the final so that means he’s out of the running for dying

Let’s talk about Bill Burr’s character I have a feeling we’ll see more of him in season 3

The guy can really act as well. Not going to lie, I was hoping he would die for some well needed high stakes drama...and I thought he would once he saw Dins face.

    Qi'ra too.

He's going to come back. He's now the character like in superhero shows who know's the main hero's secret identity and has to keep it a secret type. Plus, you now he's going to let something slip by accident referencing the mustache so that another character can react in confusion.

Great acting by Bill Burr; I love the Migs Mayfeld character. And I loved how this "team" (Din, Boba, Fennec, Cara and Migs) all started to gel more as the story progressed. Great interactions by all characters - something (characterization and character interaction) that Famuyiwa is a master at.

But Bill Burr was the equal of anyone in this latest Chapter in respect of acting. Great stuff in bringing Mayfeld further to life.

It's funny, I saw the episode title and had the suspicion he'd end up being the believer, but I like that it went the exact opposite. I guess Operation Cinder crossed the line for him just as it did for Inferno Squad.

Same. I thought the title was giving away the ending like last weeks and was pleasantly surprised.

I think the title was referring to several people in the episode.

Mayfield is someone who used to believe the Imperial ideal, but he lost it after he was betrayed by his superiors during Operation Cinder and now he doesn't believe anything.

Din believes in the old Mandalorian creed, but he realized that sometimes we need to compromise our beliefs and ideals for the greater good.

Valin Hess still believes in Imperial superiority no matter how many people the regime already killed or ruined, and he has no remorse.

Cara believes all Imperials are evil, but realizes that everyone deserves a second chance. Even ex-ISB officer.

Our heroes realize that sometime we need to compromise our beliefs in life, while the Imperial officer is a fanatic unwilling to ever question his beliefs, which is why he dies.

That's the main message of the episode. To question our beliefs and be open minded.

This guy reminds me of a couple of guys i grew up with or served with(and to an extent myself)..Im one of those guys that just love to break balls and when me and one of these friends are in the same room we sometimes freak out other people that mistakenly think we hate eachothers guts:p (were just messing around and getting a rise out of eachother)

    Love love love the character!

Bill Burr reminds me of guys I grew up with because I grew up south of Boston, a couple towns over from him. In my old stomping grounds, if someone didn’t bust your balls that meant they didn’t like you. ;)

Which is why I got the sense that Mayfeld really liked both Cara and Din...

Migs was shown to be the most professional of the prison break crew from Season One aside from the droid, and clearly established some small amount standards there; it’s likely that even if he personally feared and had distaste for Din’s virtues in that episode, Din’s professionalism earned some professional respect in turn.

He also was clearly affected by the deaths of his former comrades in arms, and thus associates that kind of comradery with yet more stuff worth respecting.

Seeing Din’s crew gelling professionally and being up front about being motivated by rescuing one of their own (in a way) is something he could understand. This episode, in terms of set-up, is basically a replay fo the general outline of the prison break episode, except the crew here plays it smart, are honest with each other, and don’t have any treachery.

I don't think he necessarily likes them. But he probably has a grudging admiration of them buried deep down.

I got the sense he likes them beyond just respect (though that’s clearly a large part of it). Trust me. That’s how most people from my birthplace act when they like you. ;)

Perhaps he will soon be Mayfeld, Ranger of the New Republic?

    That's an arc.

Bill Burr just doesn’t care and that’s like 50% of his comedy. Ended up landing him an acting job though :p

He's still a sociopath/psychopath even in this episodes regardless if he killed his ex-comrades in arms. And doing what he did almost got both of them killed and sent the mission downward it was not for plot armor. His character is basically a hood/gangster type.

One of the problems with Agent Kallus was his turn wasn't believable and just shoehorned in, same thing with Hux. But it would'nt surprise me if he's turns out to be more like Colonel George "Mac" McHale .

I think that is the endgame. Notice how they placed specific emphasis on developing his and Cara's relationship?

Maybe not a main, main character but definitely a recurring character at a minimum. My guess at least.

Burr was pretty much exactly the same in both episodes, acting-wise. He just got an arc in the second one. And was given a few new emotional beats.

Famuyiwa is a directing genius. Only he could turn a side character most people hated into one of the best characters and performances in the show.
