Here's an illustration I did from the New Jedi Order, depicting Jedi Knight http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Seyyerin_Itoklo]Seyyerin Itoklo before he was slain. The Etti was mentioned in "Edge of Victory: Conquest" as a Jedi who had fallen to the Yuuzhan Vong. I always seem to be interested in the briefly mentioned, throw-away characters.
I don't know who he is, but I love your picture anyways it's amazing! Very well coloured and you have a nice bold comic style. Hope to see more ^__^
Nicely done! I love the cocky attitude of the main character and it's refreshing to finally see a Jedi character out of the same, tired robes that they all seem to wear. It's a nice change. Having the Vong in the foreground was a nice touch. You can't quite make them out and it has you guessing if that's really an arm a leg, or something else entirely. It speaks to the mystery surrounding them and I really like that. Overall, great image and here's hoping you can get around to posting more!
Whee!! Mazzic's back in the Fan Art forum!! Awesome, this piece: I'm in complete agreement with all the comments so far--this fellow has (...had...? ) plenty of attitude, and the way you've placed the elements of his opponents does have us wondering, as our mod has pointed out, exactly which parts are which (...I do believe I see an amphistaff on the left there, though! )! I also love the setting here--unmistakably Star Wars! This is wonderful, and we'll be looking forward to your capture of more of those "forgotten" characters from the books and movies! FF
there needs to be a special folder collecting art of minor characters, especially ones with only 1--or 0!--canonical pics!
Thanks so much for the kinds words! This was a really, really fun piece to do. Throughout most of the New Jedi Order series, we never really had great depictions of the Yuuzhan Vong. I purposely kept the invaders hidden, to make the illustration more suspenseful. Rest assured, you'll be seeing more of the Vong (and their creations/weapons/"technology") in some upcoming drawings. In fact, I'm just finishing up an image with two voxyn and a city on Corellia... "The Clone Wars" animated series has been very helpful in providing interesting architectural and design details, as well as colors and lighting. I generally always have an episode running for inspiration. I'm trying to keep with the images we've previously seen of the Jedi...so Seyyerin's costume was loosely based from an image found in "Star Wars Insider" #47. I prefer seeing plainclothes Jedi, myself. I'm glad you agree! Keep an eye out for more NJO Last Stands! Mazz
Here's my latest Work in Progress... The Last Stand of Eelysa, from the NJO. She was killed by voxyn while doing reconnaissance work on Coronet City.
wonderful work again congratulation I like the dark colour scheme.. it seem more like the scene of a tragedy. good expression on the jedi and good emotion the voxyn look very scary. I imagine them to look like that too
Here's the finished illustration I did from the New Jedi Order, depicting Jedi Master http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Eelysa]Eelysa before she was killed. In "Star by Star" Eelysa's Jedi students sense her fall victim to the Yuuzhan Vong's voxyn. I based Eelysa's outfit from "Revenge of the Sith" concept art. Coronet City was drawn based off images from the game, "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron." In hindsight, I wish I'd drawn her last stand on a mag-leg train...would have been much more interesting!
That is gorgeous! It's so awesome to see fan art of Eelysa; I've always been randomly attached to her despite the fact that there's so little about her in canon.
Again, nicely done! Great sense of atmosphere and you can truly see the horror in Eelysa's eyes as she stares down the voxyn. I'm really enjoying this series, keep it up!
I like these!! The first has a nice, cocky smirk on his face that shows a lot of personality. I like the way you made the colors in the second dark; it shows the despair of the Jedi about to be killed.
Fabulous! I'm with everyone else on the expression on her face--kind of the inevitability of the situation, but we still get the feeling she's not going down without a good fight, regardless: just the way she's standing, and the coiled energy in her. Those voxyn teeth are pretty daunting, to say the least--your choice not to reveal too much of the opponent/attacker is a good one for increasing the sense of threat! The gloomy light and the apparent rain falling are great touches, too--adds to the dark feel of the piece, and the "grittiness" overall. Beautiful work! FF
Here's http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lusa]Lusa, a Chironian Jedi Knight that trained along the Solo siblings. She died in "Star by Star," when a pack of voxyn attacked her in a field.
Mazzic, it never ceases to amaze me how I can keep forgetting about your stuff for huge periods of time, then remembering, looking you up again, and you're still at it. Keep up the good work.
Your Lusa is stunning! I love how you portrayed her and the scenery is wonderful, those Voxyn look so fierce!
Your style is actually amazing. Oh, and Lusa? Good call. I had a soft spot for her since Crystal Star.
Here's my take on http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dorsk_82]Dorsk 82, from the New Jedi Order series. Dorsk 82 was a clone Jedi, who died on Ando after his ship was blown up.
