Mecha Practicality: Full Metal Panic vs. Gundam

We all know what gundam is. And anime circa 90-130 years in the future where a single governent usually Terestrial based Opresse the poor space folk. Who then form an independent but ususally hostile and brutal governemnt who uses Giant Robots for Space fighters, Tanks, and Fighter jets. They range between 30-40 feet. and weigh sevral dosen tonns.

Biggest scifi flub: While evolution can leads to improvement of survivability. Not General betterment, we can in theory become psionic (Or more psionic depending on your belifes) Or we can all have I.Q's of children. Whichever benefits survival.

Full Mettal Panic: Set place in a Modern alternate presant where the Sovet Union never collapsed and the Cold war still rages. The continued technological arms race and the discovery of a minority of people who posses advanced techological information, in their RNA or subconciously led to the devolpment of fighting robots called ArmSlaves. (Not he most politicly correct name for mechs)

(M9)Gernsback.

Hight:8.4 meters, Weight 9.5 tons, Top speed 250kps, Max jump 45 meters, Max battle time 150 hours.
Power source. Palladium reactor (Cold fusion Reactor.

ECS tech: Cannot be pickes up by radar, sensor, and can become invisible to the naked eye. (10 years ahead of Soviet and US forces)
Armerments are assorted Unimolecular cutters, Anti-tank (Big) Daggers. Macine guns, shot guns, or sniper rifles, all proportinatly big.

Note: the above average Mecha are the Arbalest(AR X-7),
and the Coder (Plan 1056). While faster and eqiped with greater power output, they are roughly the same size as the Gernsaback between 8.5 and 9 meters.

Both are loded with the "Lambda Driver" which takes concious thought and emotion and translates it to what apears to be guided and some what moldable Electromagenetic energy.

They are generaly used in conjuction with fighters, missle strikes. or used as one would use Marines. Anphibious strikesm strikes behind enemy lines etc.

Biggest Scifi flub: Cold fusion fell flat about 20 years ago I think.

IMHO Full Mettal is Funnier!

the Battles are anyones guess.

 

I only saw the first episode of Full Metal Panic that came free with my Newtype USA subscription. Nothing about that first episode made me want to bother with the second.
