    Get this right, people.

    Mel Brooks is vastly superior.

lol, I am reminded of the Imagination Land of South Park where they go to all of the movie producers looking for ideas, and Mel Gibson is the only one who actually gives them creativity.

But that Passion movie was just too graphic. At least Gibson makes funny movies.

Yoda's twin is right: I don't see any overlap in their scope and career arc for a good comparison.

    Mel Brooks notable movies:
    The Producers
    Twelve Chairs
    Young Frankenstein
    Blazing Saddles
    Silent Movie
History of the World: Part 1
    Spaceballs
    Dracula: Dead and Loving It
    The Producers Remake

    Mel Gibson notable movies:
    Braveheart
    The Passion of the Christ
    Apocalypto

Notice the vast difference in output.

How can you compare a comedy director and action/drama/period one from different generations? Sample sizes, man!

Zap , they aren't that comparable. Mel Brooks directs comedies. Mel Gibson directs historical epics that contain loads of graphic violence.

This is my point exactly, but certain people who shall remain nameless (Jabba Wocky and others) keep confusing them.

What about Mel Blanc? Is he Mel Brooks and/or Mel Gibson?

Mel Blanc is dead. Therefore irrelevant to this discussion.

The main difference between Brooks and Gibson....

When Brooks has a few drinks, he writes jokes.

When Gibson has a few drinks, he is a joke.

I posted a link to Jabba Wocky both yesterday and today of what I believe to be the best scene in a Mel Brooks movie ever. He did not watch it. This is what it was.

    The Producers- Love Power

Oh, I would have thought it was from Blazing Saddles...

    "Lovely morning, isn't it Ma'am?"

There are more classic comedy lines and moments in BLAZING SADDLES, THE PRODUCERS and YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN than in any other three movies in history!

    Mel Brooks: Jewish Comedic Icon
Mel Gibson: His Production Company is called Icon

Coincidence or part of the divine plan of the Universe? [face_thinking]

Mel Brooks makes a comedy about Hitler and makes lots of money.
Mel Gibson makes a drama about Jesus and makes lots of money.

    SEE!!!!

What is this purported epidemic of confusion? Who is confusing Mel Brooks and Mel Gibson?

Mel Brooks > Mel Gibson. Gibson peaked with Braveheart. Apocolypto was aptly named. It was an apocolypse of a movie. Mel Brooks puts more social commentary in any 5 minutes of his movies that Gibson has done in 6 hrs. of his portfolio. Wouldn't mind a WWE smackdown of the Mel's... anti-semite actor vs. the jew comic producer... that would be awesome.

What most people don't realize about Mel Gibson is that his name backwards spells Nosbig Lem. Combined thats Nosbiglem. Pronounced: Noze-bee-gluhm. The language of the triceratops. Mel Gibson is a triceratops.

I think it just means he has a big nose.

And I resent your assumption that triceratopses are antisemetic.

I think Zap would shun me for saying that I liked the musical remake of the Producers more than the original.
