    Introduction

The Clone Wars took place across roughly three years, between 22 BBY and 19 BBY. That is approximately 1100 days of war. Even if we merge all the battles fought by Anakin Skywalker or Obi Wan Kenobi, from all different multimedia projects, they must amount to something like one mission every 15 days at most, so there is still plenty of time for lots of lost adventures, and for children to make up their own stories.

    Major Characters

Let's assume the structure of the Grand Army of the Republic is something like this:
    • Systems Army > Corps > Division > Legion > Battalion > Company > Platoon > Squad
The Republic's Grand Army seems to have been structured something like this:
    • - [Grand Army of the Republic]
    • - - [First Systems Army]
    • - - [Second Systems Army]
    • - - [Third Systems Army]
    • - - - [7th Sky Corps] (General Obi Wan Kenobi)
    • - - - - - [212th Attack Battalion]
    • - - - - [501st Legion] (General Anakin Skywalker)
    • - - [Fourth Systems Army]
    • - - [Fifth Systems Army]
    • - - [Sixth Systems Army]
    • - - [Seventh Systems Army]
    • - - [Eighth Systems Army]
    • - - [Ninth Systems Army]
    • - - [Tenth Systems Army]
Some of the key Jedi Knights and clones of the saga, were attached to units like this:
    • - 7th Corps - General Obi Wan Kenobi / Clone Commander CC-2224 "Cody"
    • - 21st Corps - General Ki Adi Mundi / Clone Commander CC-1138 "Bacara"
    • - 41st Corps - General Luminara Unduli / Clone Commander CC-1004 "Gree"
    • - 104th Battalion - General Plo Koon / Clone Commander CC-3636 "Wolffe"
    • - 212th Battalion - General Obi Wan Kenobi / Clone Commander CC-2224 "Cody"
    • - 327th Corps - General Aayla Secura / Clone Commander CC-5052 "Bly"
    • - 501st Legion - General Anakin Skywalker / Clone Commander CT-7567 "Rex"

Meanwhile some of the most prominent commanders and agents of the Confederacy were:
    • General Grievous
    • General Sev'rance Tann
    • General Whorm Loathsom
    • Admiral Trench
    • Commander Asajj Ventress
    • Commander Durge
    • Commander Merai
    [IMG]

These are the main players in all the Clone Wars material: Books, games, comics, cartoons and CGI animation. Durge is notably missing from the 2008 CGI series. Let us for now, just try to reconcile three major sources of the Clone Wars, perhaps the most extensive: 1). the 2003 Dark Horse Comics series, 2). the beloved 2003 Genndy Tartakovsky cartoon series, and 3). the popular 2008 Dave Filoni animated series.

Battles of the Dark Horse Comics 'Clone Wars'

[Originally starts two to three months after the Battle of Geonosis. The Jedi Council agree with the Supreme Chancellor to continue leading the Grand Army, but expressed reluctance. The Jedi were intended as peacekeepers, but there is simply no other group qualified with sufficient numbers. It will be difficult for them to perform their usual duties and these as well. Some do not heed the call back to Coruscant.]
    • 22 BBY - First Battle of Kamino (Obi Wan, Anakin)
    • 22 BBY - Battle of Ohma-D'un (Obi Wan, Anakin)
    • 22 BBY - Battle of Brentaal IV (Shaak Ti, Agen Kolar, Plo Koon)
    • 22 BBY - Battle of Jabiim (Obi Wan, Anakin)
    • 22 BBY - Battle of Argonar (Anakin)
    • 21 BBY - Battle of Thustra (Yoda)
    • 21 BBY - Battle of Null (Mace Windu)
    • 21 BBY - Battle of Zaadja (Obi Wan, Anakin)
    • 19 BBY - Battle of Rendili (Saesee Tiin, Obi Wan, Anakin)
    • 19 BBY - Battle of Boz Pity (Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Obi Wan, Anakin)
    • 19 BBY - Battle of Salucami (Oppo Rancisis, Quinlan Vos, Aayla Secura)
    • 19 BBY - Battle of Kashyyyk (Yoda, Luminara Unduli, Quinlan Vos)
Battles of the Genndy Tartakovsky 'Clone Wars'

[Originally starts four months after the Battle of Geonosis. The Clone Wars spreads like fire across the galaxy. More and more planets fall in league with the wicked Count Dooku. The duty to lead the newly formed Grand Army of the Republic against this threat falls upon the Jedi Knights. As the heat of war grows, so too the prowess of one most gifted student of the Force: Anakin Skywalker.]
    • 22 BBY - Battle of Muunilinst (Obi Wan, Anakin)
    • 22 BBY - Battle of Dantooine (Mace Windu)
    • 22 BBY - Battle of Mon Calamari (Kit Fisto)
    • 22 BBY - Battle of Hypori (Ki Adi Mundi, Shaak Ti, Aayla Secura)
    • 20 BBY - Battle of Bomis Koori IV (Obi Wan, Anakin)
    • 19 BBY - Battle of Coruscant (Yoda, Mace Windu, Shaak Ti)
    Discrepancies

As you can see, there is a massive time gap in both the 2003 Dark Horse comics series, and the 2003 Genndy Tartakovsky cartoon series. Since Asoka Tano is missing from all of the original Clone Wars project, the simplest thing to do, is of course, place all of the 2008 Filoni Clone Wars into the time gap. This works reasonably well, as I'm sure people are aware: the Genndy Tartakovsky and Dave Filoni Clone Wars in particular each make great complimentary summaries of the war, and can be watched together.

But there are still some details that are out of sync between the projects (which can easily be justified as slightly different tellings of the same myth). Some of the main ones: The battles dates do not line up, with 2008's Battle of Christophsis allegedly taking place mere weeks after Geonosis, but Anakin is already a Jedi Knight, and Venator-class starships have already been introduced into the war. The Republic continues exclusively using older equipment like Acclamator-class starships, far longer in the original Clone Wars multimedia project. Another example of discrepancy: Asajj Ventress deserts the Seperatist cause in both materials, but under different circumstances.

It's fairly easy to solve the timeline issue, and actually makes more sense: Compress all of the 2003 Clone Wars multimedia project into the first and last months of the war: early 22 BBY and late 19 BBY. Place the Battle of Christophsis and the 2008 Clone Wars later, say late 22 BBY to late 19 BBY. With all that said, here is a summary of major points, dividing the war into speculative 'phases':

    The Combined 'Clone Wars' Timeline

Phase One - The Early Clone Wars (Early 22 BBY)

The Republic was unprepared for war. It's Navy was under equipped, lacking even a standard starfighter. The V19 Torrent was rushed into production. Meanwhile Jedi Starfighters were the sole defence at the First Battle of Kamino, where the Confedracy tried to destroy the source of Clone Troopers, taking heavy losses. The main capital ship was the Acclamator-class assault ship, which was more of an armed transport than a dedicated capital warship. Battalion colours and traditions were not yet present. Ship hulls on both sides remained unpainted. Clone Troopers still used Phase I armor. Asajj Ventress and Durge made their introduction.

The Battle of Muunilinst was an early pressure point in the war. The newly introduced V19 Torrent starfighter was deployed en masse by Acclamator-class assault ships, and a planetary invasion was launched against the prominent Seperatist homeworld of the Muun species and Banking Clan, led by Obi Wan Kenobi (commander of the ground forces) and Anakin Skywalker (commander of the space forces).

During the battle, Anakin Skywalker is lured away to Yavin 4 by Asajj Ventress's starfighter. His ship is blown up, marooning him with her amidst the jungle and temples. There, still a mere padawan, he fought his first major duel of the Clone Wars against the Dark Jedi acolyte, succumbing to his anger, and almost killing Ventress. Comandeering Ventress's own starfighter, he reunites with his master, Obi Wan Kenobi, on the newly conquered Muunilinst.

After deliberation by the Jedi High Council, where it is argued that the Chosen One should not be kept out of the war, they agree to forego the usual trials and bestow knighthood upon Anakin Skywalker, in light of his duel agaist Ventress and many feats of endurance. He is is knighted by Yoda, who cut's off his Jedi padawan's braid, in the presence of a proud Obi Wan Kenobi. Secretly, Anakin sends this memento to his lover Padme Amidala. Shortly after this, he duels Asajj Ventress again on Coruscant, receiving his scar.

General Grievous makes his debut at the Battle of Hypori, slaying two Jedi, and almost overcoming Ki Adi Mundi, Shaak Ti and Aayla Secura. This new droid commander strikes fear into the Republic, turning the war in the Seperatist's favour. The apperance of Grievous, Anakin's knighthood, as well as the introduction of the Venator-class star destroyer, marks the end of the first phase of the war.

Phase Two - The Mid Clone Wars (22-19 BBY)

The war was now fully underway. The Ventator-class star destroyer was introduced, a turning point in the Republic's fortunes. The V19 Torrent was now widely available. The Confedracy in turn deploys the providence class dreadnaught. Anakin Skywalker was now a full Jedi Knight, like his battle brother Obi Wan Kenobi. He took on apprentice Ahsoka Tano. All three were given positions in Kenobi's 7th Corps, perhaps the most decorated of the war.

Phase Three - "The Outer Rim Sieges" (Late 19 BBY)

The Confederacy was losing on all fronts, and dug into several planets in the Outer Rim. New equipment continued to be deployed, including almost universal adoption of Phase II clone armor. The V19 Torrent was increasingly retired in favour of the ARC170 and V-Wing starfighters. The Confederacy deploys the droid Tri-Fighter in greater numbers, as well as the Providence-class
