San Diego, CA Midnight Screening-LOTR: The Two Towers

So is anyone planning to go to a midnight screening for TTT? I called the Mission Valley AMC and they said that they would be doing a midnight screening for the movie. Tickets will probably go on sale 2 weeks before the movie comes out. I plan on going. My sister has made a very "authentic" costume of Arwen and is going to make her first appearance in it at the midnight showing. I'd rather spend my money on upgrading my Anakin costume, so won't be making a LOTR one for the new movie. Any of you guys are welcome to join us. Right now I have four others joining me.

 

I would think that just a Jedi cloak over your anakin outfit minus the tabbards would work well for the LOTR premiere! Does your sis have ear prosthetics yet? Susie kinda wants a set so she can be Galadriel.

December 18th is our 3rd anniversary and we're both Tolkien fiends, so we'll be going that evening for a special date So we won't be hitting the midnite premiere, but the evening of the 18th.

 

Actually I was thinking about wearing just the cloak. My sis has been working on the pointy ears, but is having some trouble. A friend of hers has made them before, and is helping her. I'm sure by the time the movie comes out she'll have figured out something.

 

Just out of curiosity, you do know that tickets are already on sale, right? I've gotta get Susie to decide which showing we're going to, then go grab our tix.

 

[face_shocked] The person on the phone said they don't go on sale until the 4th! I'll try to get them tomorrow. Did they say if there was for sure going to be a midnight screening?

EDIT: I just called Mission Valley and they said that tickets had not gone on sale

 

They're on sale already at Movietickets.com for the Mission valley location, so you should be able to buy them at AMC MV. You probably have to go to guest services and ask for the programming manager.

 

Or, go to my favorite movie ticketing site: Fandango.

You do pay a $1 fee per ticket, but at least you're getting your tickets early even if the theatres aren't selling them.

I just bought tickets for the midnight screening at Edwards Mira Mesa.

It's where the Official Line Party is going to be. I was part of it last year and they gave away LOTR CCG booster packs for people who answered trivia questions and stuff.

Come join me and my 10 friends in line.

 

I signed Leia and I up for that line party, it sounds like a lot of fun... kinda like a mini Chinese Theatre line. I hope we will be able to make it.

 

well okay, I'll go join you there to hang out in line. But I'm not watching the movie at midnight... it's not Star Wars! And I already have tix for AMC the next evening.

 

I wish every movie opened at midnight.

That would so rule.

Maybe I'll be joining you guys at the Mira Mesa. So are people going to be lining up days in advace for the movie? What I'm saying is, if I were to get in line about 9 or 10am, would I still have a change at getting good seats?

 

Apparently the official line party doesn't start to get in line until 6pm.
So getting in line at 9am is probably overkill.

They are talking about getting together at Pat and Oscars beforehand for dinner. Anyone else up for that? Also, WHERE do I get tickets for that showing? Do I call the theatre directly? Also, is there more than one midnight showing? Remember at the AMC for Star Wars there were numerous midnight showings, I don't want to have tickets for the wrong one.

Well, since the first showing at midnight is sold out, I doubt you'll buy tickets for the wrong show.

 

Fandango is showing that there are two 11:59 showings for Tuesday.

Anakin, I just bought my tickets on fandango.com. You just enter the date of Tuesday, December 17th and it shows two showings at 11:59 pm, if you click the first one, it is sold out, so click the second one and you should be able to buy them online today, and then pick them up at the theatre on the day of the movie.

Um...I like live in Mira Mesa about five blocks away from the Edwards Mira Mesa 18 so I usually go see movies there. I picked up my tickets on the way home from work yesterday.

 

i think i will miss this one... gonna wait till i can see it with my brother and sister. my brother comes back on the 18th or 19th..

 

All right, I got my tickets for me and my 10 friends for the midnight screening! I still plan on getting there at 9am, so I can hold a spot if anyone wants to join me at the front of the line.
