Well, the critic gave TPM 3 stars.
I have a feeling he might give AOTC 3 stars. I doubt 3.5. I could be wrong.
Though, I could see him give it 2 or 2.5 stars.
But, if he says the movie will be better than TPM, 3.5 should be right on target. He'll never give it 4 stars, sadly.

I guess we'll know Thursday morning!

Even ROTJ didn't get 4 stars according to the film rating books.

Who cares what a critic rates a movie. Enjoymant of a film is a personal experience.

I should also add, that the original "Star Wars" was rated very poorly by critics (especially Paulene Kael of _The New York Times_ -- so much so that one of the villains in "Willow" was named Kael because Lucas didn't care for her review).

Box Office gross determines if another film will be made, not critical reaction. Though critical reaction sometimes determines who will go and see a film.

    In all...

who cares what the critics rate the film? Lucas has already committed to a Episode III and has also said that that will be the last EVER episode of the series.

Of course, the fact that in a 1978 _Time_ Magazine Lucas said he wanted to make 12 parts total; Then in 1979 Lucas changes the total to 10 (a trilogy of trilogies and an epilogue); Then in 1980 changed his mind to 9 parts; and then in 1997 decided to reshoot the ending of "Return of the Jedi (Special Edition)" so that he could end the series there (only 6 parts) with the rebellion of Coroscant. Perhaps, if we should be critical of anyone's reaction to the films, maybe we should wonder about George's dedication?

(I hope I'm not being too blasphemous here).

Duane Dudek gave AOTC's 2 1/2 stars. Doesn't mean much to me because I think he underrates anything that's usually halfway good. For example, he gave Jurassic park two stars when it came out, wheras the Journal's excellent former critic Douglas Armstrong gave it 3 1/2 stars as I remember it. I'm not claiming JP was a classic by any means, but it was better then 2 stars. So, I always add anywhere from 1/2 a star to a full star to every review he does. He's not the best critic. Here's the link to his review:

2½ stars is about 0.009% of what AOTC is worth.

Whatever...That guy's an idiot. They REALLY need to have fan reviews of these movies because the critics reviews don't mean anything.

I believe Yoda would say, "Bite me, he can." What a tool. This guy probably got beaten up a lot in high school, by the nerds. There's this odd thing with critics that popularity = suckitude. Now I'm not saying that the Lethal Weapon series was Oscar-worthy, but you go there, you watch them, you're entertained. I don't think there's anything wrong with the love story, or the acting. The love story doesn't feel manufactured or forced to me. Has the guy seen Natalie Portman? (Yeah, Dwayne is typing, but not for long if he keeps that up). Not to mention she's a typical Star Wars strong female character. I think it's great to see movies where the woman doesn't need rescuing. And I have some news for the reviewer, if someone has been to all four of the films, and they are going to see this one, they are a fan. Maybe not "obsessed" as he calls it, but usually you don't go to see film number 5 if you didn't like 1-4. So if this film delivers to fans, it's delivering to everyone that saw the first four. Two and a half stars my butt. Do we really have to get reviewed by people that think Merchant-Ivory films are the cream of the crop. Hell, the English Patient won Oscars, and where's that film now? He's a knob and if I had the chance, I'd tell him where to put his two and a half stars, and the other one and a half it probably deserved. Trust me, I'd find room for them. Heck, I might pay that star registry (a great idea for mother's day!) just to have another star to wedge in there. So here's my review:

Snippy little Journal Sentinel reviewer guy: 1/2 star. A tool, but he used a few multisyllabic words, so points for that.

Star Wars Episode II, Attack of the Clones: 4. Is it on a 4 star system? I'm willing to go higher if it's not. Just call it six and be done with it. Take that tool boy.

I'll take a fan's opinion over some critic's any day.

Remember, the term critic is taken from the word criticize. Some critics are too good at it though, that they wouldn't know a good crowd pleasing movie if it bit them on the nose.

Some critics get too hung up on looking for movies with super-tremendous emotional depth, and consider anything else to be garbage.

Star Wars films are like mochi and Natalie Merchant's singing voice. Either you love it or you hate it. If you look at the reviews that are being quoted on Yahoo Movies, the even ones are good, the odd ones are bad.

    Big deal. They don't matter.

I wish I had copied and pasted it here, but I did send an email to Gene Mueller at 'KTI just expressing my opinion regarding what the morning show thought of the movie compared to what I thought. The reply he sent went mostly like this:

There is no right or wrong, it's just a matter based on opinion. Obviously your expectations were met. Mine weren't. May the force be with you.
