more ausitn powers movies...

I was just looking through my dvd collection and came across the austin powers movies. I'm a big fan and would love for there to be more AP movies. I once heard either the director or mike myers himself say he would like the AP movies to be like james bond movies and have the series keep on going. Are there any rumours of more austin powers movies? I hope there will be at least another one.

 

I think Goldmember pretty much ended it for that series.

Unlike other movies, AP seems to get better as it progresses.

1st one wasn't that good.

2nd one was better.

3rd one was HYPE!

 

I heard there are gonna be 3 of them coming out this year.

 

There was going to be an Austin Powers 4 but Mike Myers was sued by, I believe United Artists, the studio the makes the Bond films because AP is basically a characature of 007.

 

Which sounds weird, because there have been many characatures of Bond since the Bond Series started.

You can't sue someone for making a spoof, otherwise Mel Brooks would be living in a box along with everyone who draws those political cartoons in the newspapers.

 

No, I don't and I don't even remember where I heard it. I think the reason that Myers was sued probably has to do with the fact that the titles sounded a litte too similar to 007 titles. The Spy Who Shagged Me=The Spy Who Loved Me and Goldmember=Goldfinger, also Dr.Evil looked exactly like Dr.No. There's no way you could argue that that's just a coinicdence.

Who else here hates it when big corperations take advantage of copyright laws like this, and sue someone who's just doing it for fun (mostly)? *raises hand*

The Austin Powers movies got progressivly worse as time went on. The first one was great, but after that they just seemed to use the same jokes over and over again. It got old pretty fast.

 

I think that the novelty of that series has worn off. Unlike another poster, I think that the series got less entertaining as it went along. I hope they don't make more AP movies.

 

I believe Dr. Evil was imitating the 'Blofeld' character from the Connery era of Bond.

Having the Bond DVD's gives you this kind of useless knowledge!

Man if you didn't like the AP movies you have no sense of humor at all. And the opening of "Goldmember" is one of the funniest of all time.

Dr. Evil is an amagalmation of Dr. No and Ernest blofeld, mostly Blofeld, James Bond Arch enemey and head of Spectre.

Me too, but it was a good joke whilst it lasted.

 

Me three. It was good while in Jr High, but afterwards it wasn't the same. I actually hated Goldmember the first time I saw it. The 3rd one was too Hollyood and 4th one would take it to the extreme. So No on AP4!!!

 

The joke wore out on me five minutes into the first movie. Dr. Evil was okay, but Austin Powers himself was a stupid character not even fit for a last minute SNL sketch.

 

The last movie was basuckitty. I think humanity as a whole will be better if they never make another one of these again.
