The Star Wars Upcoming Books & Comics page on Facebook assures us this is not an April Fools' joke: the DK Adult Fall 2024 Catalog contains listings for Complete Locations - New Edition releasing on November 26, 2024, as well as The Acolyte Visual Guide arriving on January 7, 2025. No other information is known at this time.

The Complete Locations update will be hugely welcome, as the last edition in 2016 only covered up to TFA and there have been a lot of additional locations introduced since then. And of course, everything in the Visual Guide format is gold (although at this point we don't know if Pablo's involved in this one).

Those of us who enjoy DK reference books are about to have a banner year!

I wonder if Complete Locations will have an overhaul to account for new changes like the layout of Tatooine per Book of Boba Fett and the Emperor's Vault on the DS-2.

This would certainly be a great opportunity for that. Also maybe an updated Great Temple layout to bring it more in line with Rogue One and The Rebel Files.

I assume Complete Locations will just cover the saga films, but obvious additions like Jedha City and the entire Scarif Citadel would be nice. The mines of Kessel at long last. I feel like Nevarro City and Ferrix would be obvious inclusions if the scope of the book allows for it, because they feel like pretty complete sets already -- Ferrix especially; I'm sure there's already an entire town map somewhere among the production team that could be easily prettied up for a book release.

The ultimate wish-list item would, I think, be Luke's Ossus temple.

    :c3po: Wonderful!

This look pretty fun, especially the visual guide for the Acolyte. Lets hope it actually comes out, unlike the Mandalorian one. But yeah, always nice to get more guide stuff for the shows.

Odd choice of day to announce it though.

My own wish list item for the new Complete Locations would be the Sith Eternal citadel on Exegol, with the Nightsister fortress on Peridea a very close second.

While the Mando visual guide never surfaced, DK did put out that Mandalorian Handbook for younger readers that I suspect a lot of the planned Visual Guide material ended up recycled into. Being more than a year out at minimum from any new Mandalorian content, this would be a great time to update for BoBF and season 3 and put that guide back on the publishing schedule, on the off chance anyone from DK happens to be reading this...

I hope the new Complete Locations with new illustrations for the six films. Particularly Theed and the Jedi Council chamber in TPM.

It'll be interesting for Canto Bight, Ajan Kloss base, Sith Temple on Exegol, the underground under the Forbidden Deserts, Crait Base, Temple island to the added from the Sequels.

The Acolyte Visual Guide was confirmed at SDCC, along with confirmation that Pablo is writing it (yes!).

No news there about the updated Complete Locations that I'm aware of, although there's an Amazon listing that suggests it may have gotten bumped to April of next year.

Interesting that they have stuff from Mando and Andor, but not other shows. I would think that is because they were the most popular, but Solo is there and as much as I liked it I don't think it is widely popular in the fandom.

I can't think of very much from the other shows that could work here. Acolyte might be too new to make it into this volume, Obi-Wan doesn't have much new in terms of cross-sectionable locations (Fortress Inquisitorius, maybe, but that seems like a bit of a rehash of Fortress Vader) and there's not really anything in Ahsoka, either.

so 12 new artworks/crosssection places? given the backcover text mentions 6 movies, that is 2 per movie. Of 12 we know already 4 new ones.

    TLJ
    Ahch-to & Canto Bight

    TROS
Exegol? DS ruins? Ajan Kloss base?

    R1
    Vader's Castle Mustafar
Jedha? new Yavin Base look? Scarif?

    SOLO
    Kessel?
    ?

    MANDO
    ? + ?

    ANDOR
    Narkina5
Coruscant Mon Mothma's place, Luthen's shop? or Ferrix?

Thus we need to figure out only 8 more!

PS: I do not like Vader's castle crosssection. In fact, it is terrible. It does totally ignore ANY rooms and locations of it we had in games and comics etc. and those had a better floorplan for it already in the VR Vader Immortal game. Even the Hunters game has a better map for Vader's Castle rooms!!! How about Battlefront or others?

Looks like they went the easy route and did next to zero research for crosssections outside of movies, which makes this new addition sadly not worth it. I hope others are better and not as random with no actual worth as games and comics locations are way more important than any this crosssection offers.

My guesses for the remaining eight are:

    The Lodge (Solo)
    Kessel (Solo)
    Ajan Kloss base (TROS)
Overview map of Kijimi City (TROS)
    Overview map of Nevarro (Mando)
    Eadu Imperial base (R1)
    Scarif Base (R1)
Overview map of Ferrix village (Andor)

I didn't include the Sith Temple on Exegol as I suspect that possibility might be too good to be true.
Stuff from books and comics and VR and whatnot is probably hiding in those sections of the fortress not exposed in the cross-section. Would have been fun to see, but at least their omission isn't hurting anything continuity-wise.

Actually their omission does hurt as they would be in the area pictured here and can not be elsewhere as per their game settings.

I'll have to take your word for it - it's been quite a while since I've looked at the VR game or any of the Vader's Castle comics. In any event, the artwork might not reflect non-film stuff but I doubt the lore nuggets will be as forgetful.

I am reminded that I should revisit Vader Immortal one of these days. Also, that hardcover collection of the Vader's Castle comics is coming out next month. It'll be nice to have the entire series in one place, including that one-shot that IDW never collected for some reason.

There’s an old saying, I forget what it is, but it has something to do with judges. [face_thinking][face_thinking] But I feel like it’s relevant.

    Was it this by Cezanne:

When I judge art, I take my painting and put it next to a God made object like a tree or flower. If it clashes, it is not art.”

An overview of Jedha city also seems like a good concept to include.

Bit disappointing to hear about Vader's Castle though. That's the sort of cross-media content that should have come properly together for this book.

We haven't "heard about" anything, aside from people making assumptions based on a book cover.

The real proof will be in the actual book itself, especially if any of the old art has been altered and updated. The Tatooine map especially is one that obviously needs updating in light of recent content, and it'll be interesting to see if any Tatooine, Kijimi, or Cantonica spreads align with the maps in Outlaws.

For Kenobi, there are also a couple of Hidden Path hideouts I think could work, and Ahoska has the ruins from the opening, Ezra/Sabine's tower, the shipyard, and especially Space Witch Minas Teras.

They should keep movies in one volume and do another only for tv. Or one for games.

Acolyte alone needs its own book given the many locations!

I am somewhat disappointed in the Locations book. How about just a completely new book that has all new content? Instead we get all the old content with some new stuff thrown in. Just looking at this thread there is more than enough content that has not been seen before to make a whole new book.

To add to the list of possible locations...Corvus
